Located on the Applecross Peninsula in Wester Ross, the landscape here is dramatic and unspoilt, almost another world. Its striking beauty and remoteness makes you feel like you are experiencing the true Scottish Highlands and some of its breathtaking, untouched wilderness. The picturesque little village of Applecross (1.5 miles) is west facing and offers beautiful views overlooking the bay to the Isle of Skye. Whether it is by foot, bike or boat this is a fantastic spot to explore. There is so much to see and do on this Highland Peninsula from sea kayaking, sailing tours and seal watching, to coast path walking, mountain climbing and much more.

The Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) is only one of two ways into the village of Applecross and is one of the highest roads in Britain reaching 2,053 ft. Spend time walking and exploring as the mountain views all along Bealach na Ba are spectacular, but be sure to take extra care on those Alpine hairpin bends! It is a single track road and one of the most famous parts of the North Coast 500 route, offering magnificent views across the bay to Raasay and The Isle of Skye.

A perfect peaceful base for exploring the Applecross peninsula. Eating out at the walled garden was excellent, but closes in October. Wet weather gear may be needed, lots of walking and trails right from the cottage. A torch is needed if walking at night. Only one shop locally for food shopping.. We have returned many times.
