Enjoying a quiet position on a 4000-acre traditional farm, this spacious four-bedroom cottage is the perfect getaway for families seeking to enjoy the relaxed surroundings of the scenic and unspoilt west highland glen. Spend your days discovering the long hill walks from the doorstep, cycling forest tracks or strolling the beautiful Angus’ Garden adjacent to the cottage. Despite its secluded location; shops, tearoom and welcoming pub are less than 3 miles away in Taynuilt village.

Dating back between 200 and 300 years, your holiday home is the original part of the now extended farmhouse and is full of character and charm. With neutral tones and period details complementing the surrounding natural environment and windows looking out onto the pretty cottage garden, this is the perfect place to relax and forget the pressures of modern life.

Forming part of the main farmhouse, step through your private entrance into the spacious hall where there is plenty of room to leave walking boots and wellies. Conjure up delicious family meals in the spacious farmhouse kitchen to share at the large table overlooking the gardens. Spend cosy evenings in the sitting room playing board games in front of the open fire or relaxing in the comfortable sofas with a glass of your favourite tipple.

Take the traditional steep farmhouse stairs to the first floor where there are four well-appointed bedrooms, two doubles and two singles, all with rustic farmhouse-style furniture and decorated in soothing tones. A bathroom and shower room can also be found on this floor.

A door leads from the sitting room into your private enclosed garden. During summer months, stroll into the garden to listen to the call of the garden birds and enjoy the sunshine.

Surrounded by open countryside, there are walks straight from the front door, with plenty for the wildlife enthusiast to spot including otters, deer and golden eagles. Guests are encouraged to explore the 9 acres of Angus' Gardens, created out of a mother's love for her fallen son. Waymarked trails lead through the garden and around the tranquil loch, a lovely spot for a peaceful picnic.

Wander the shady woodland paths of the Glen Nant National Nature Reserve (2 miles), discover the remains of ancient settlements and industry, climb through the glen for spectacular mountain views or picnic by the babbling River Nant.

Not to be missed is the incredible feat of engineering at Cruachan Power Station (7 miles). Step into the subterranean network of giant tunnels as you go deep under the mountain. Be awestruck at the cavernous machine hall before travelling up the mountain and stepping onto the viewing platform to gaze at the imposing turbines below.

For an exhilarating experience, hop aboard a seafari at Oban (23 miles). Go in search of seals, dolphins and porpoises and visit the world's third-largest whirlpool at Corryvreckan. Get closer to nature on a sea kayaking expedition and paddle through the clear waters seeking out the diverse marine creatures that inhabit the coastal waters. After a day of activity, head into Oban itself and take a tour of the whisky distillery or feast on freshly-caught fish in one of the welcoming pubs and restaurants.

Traditional old farmhouse with locked interconnecting doors to properties either side. Beautiful location, ideal for walks from the door and an abundance of wildlife.

I visited for a week with my sons and found a warm and welcoming cottage with a priority on comfort and old fashioned hospitality rather than modern luxury. Its location is extraordinary with a magical garden if you're lucky enough to get a good sunset G&T there - the birds are clearly very happy with it! We had a great time getting out on the wateRead morer and up on the munros - very highly recommend this house for an 'outdoorsy' holiday. All practical necessities easy to take care of for wet gear etc. Hide
