With two twin bedrooms, this is a fantastic escape for groups of outdoor-loving friends or a small family.

Located on the edge of the loch, enjoy incredible views as you dine morning and night at this inviting holiday home. Eclectically styled, the single-level property is packed with character as well as an abundance of space, with a focus on comfort and homeliness throughout.

If you can tear yourself away from exploring all that is on your doorstep, gather around the table in the dining room for a hearty homecooked dinner; you’re sure to have worked up quite the appetite with so much to see and do. Retreat to the lounge with full bellies and make plans for tomorrow beside the warming woodburner on a dreich evening. Two twin bedrooms, which are zip and link, lie ready for you to lay your head and catch some Z’s, both decorated in a warm and welcoming style to make you feel right at home. There is also a bathroom with shower over bath at the property. Due to its remote location, the Wi-Fi signal can be poor, making this the perfect spot for an ‘unplugged’ stay.

Enjoy the scenery from the large enclosed shingle garden bench, with an extensive range of outdoor pursuits just the other side of the fence. Please note that during the stalking season (which begins in early August) guests will be asked to give their cooperation to the estate.

Lace up your walking boots; the Reay Forest Estate is home to famed mountains such as Ben Stack (7.5 miles) and Arkle (10 miles), both with excellent hiking routes to explore. For even more adventure, try white water rafting in Aberfeldy

Get closer to the local wildlife at Handa Island (19 miles), where bird watchers will be amazed as nearly 100,000 seabirds breed here each summer, including guillemots, razorbills and great skuas. Plus, the dramatic sandstone cliffs provide stunning ocean panoramas that need to be seen to be believed.

Walk the rugged coastline, starting from Durness (30 miles) - the most north-westerly village in the British mainland. Here you'll find a string of sheltered sandy coves, as well as the beautiful Balnakiel beach (31.5 miles) and Smoo Cave (31 miles).

The geopark is a haven for keen fishermen and women, with brown trout fishing available on a number of the estate hill lochs, with sea trout and salmon fishing also available on Loch Stack and Loch More. If you prefer to eat your fish rather than catch it, embark on a day trip to Lairg (26 miles) where you will find restaurants and other eateries, as well as shops to explore, or head to the bi-weekly fish market at Kinlochbervie (20 miles).
