Escape to the Isle of Barra with a stay in this cosy home-from-home. Set right on the shoreline, the garden gate opens down onto the rocks where guests can fish or launch kayaks into the sea. The island itself boasts a fascinating history, beautiful white sandy beaches and seven lochs.

After a busy day spent exploring the island, return to this cosy bolthole for a relaxing evening in. You will find comfortable rooms with wooden floors, traditional decor and stunning views.

Rustle up a delicious meal in the traditional farmhouse-style kitchen, which looks out over the sea through a charming little window above the sink. Enjoy your Scottish dinner in the separate dining room before hunkering down in front of the Freeview TV in the comfortable lounge.

While the family bathroom is also on the ground floor, the three bedrooms are located upstairs, each of which promise a spectacular elevated view. With fresh neutral decor, carefully coordinated furniture and soft linens, you will wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day's activities.

The location was perfect being right on the shore. It was spoilt by old wooden cabinets strewn all over the garden. The cottage was warm and cosy with lovely views.

Quite a dramatic location, the kitchen space is cozy and offers attractive vistas of the surrounding. Theres a good amount of space for a family of 2 couples. We would just advise future occupants to check that the windows have been either repaired or replaced before booking.

Absolutely fantastic location for our week's holiday. Comfortable and cosy cottage, we had a lovely time. Future guests may like to know the cottage has 1000 piece puzzles, dominoes, playing cards, child's toy truck. Also some modern paperback novels. No local Ordnance Survey maps, local walking/history guide books, bird/flora books or board games Read moreso bring your own. Dog owners note : garden fences are approximately 2 and a half foot high. Sheep/livestock everywhere, even on beaches. Hide

I spent a lovely week at Scutaig. The cottage is spacious, very warm and comfortable. My dog appreciated the roomy and securely enclosed garden. The bed was comfy and the kitchen had everything you might need. The location is fabulous, with stunning views over Brevig Bay. Don't expect modern or fancy decor, everything is practical and homely.

The cottage was comfortable and was in a good location. As Barra is only a small island, you are only a short drive from either Castlebay, community cafe's, great walks and fantastic beaches. The kettle didnt want to boil on arrival, but this was replaced very quickly (thanks Tresna)

The Scutaig cottage is a cozy amazing place right on the shores of the sea. Check-In is very easy and you feel welcome when entering. The ground is fenced so it is perfect for dogs. The cottage itself is well equipped but certain items such as baking pans were still greasy, that is why we rate the cleanliness with 4* instead of 5*. We also found gaRead morerbage under the beds such as crisp packages and handkerchiefs. Apart from that we can highly recommend the place and will certainly be back soon! Hide

The cottage was comfortable and homely and in a beautiful location. The neighbours were lovely and all the people we met and chatted with were very friendly. The weather was quite changeable whilst we were there, but remained warm. We visited some stunning beaches. We will return to the island at some time in the future.
