The exquisite sea-scape in front of the property, delights guests with views of otters and seals. The geology enthusiasts will be amazed by the rock formations including the famous Pirates Cove granite marbles. For the adventurous, Smugglers Den is perfectly located. Swimming, snorkelling and kayaking from in front of the property is idyllic. It's within a mile from the tracks up the iconic Goat Fell. Mountain bike trails start nearby linking with the extensive forestry tracks network. Horse riding and golf links are also nearby. A drying room will efficiently dry any gear overnight.
This four bedroom property benefits from an abundance of spacious rooms. The two doubles both have en suite bathrooms; the two twins are close to the family bathroom. This apartment is set out on one floor, with no steps, making it popular with people of limited mobility. The homely lounge encourages you to sit down as a group, enjoy watching a DVD on the TV or crowd around the coffee table to play a family-friendly board game in the evening. Books and board games are plentiful. Glass panelled doors lead into an open-plan kitchen and dining room. The well equipped kitchen makes it incredibly easy to cook for eight people. Arran has many local products which we encourage you to try. The dining table comfortably seats eight and is by a large window, providing ample opportunities to see the local otters on the sea shore. French doors from the lounge open into the south facing enclosed garden. This is a real sun trap as you relax on the garden furniture, with a vista of both the open sea and the sandstone cliffs behind the house. A secure shed is available for your bikes, fishing rods, etc. Car parking is in a shared area by the house.
As well as a summer paradise, Smugglers Den is a peaceful winter retreat, where you can observe the winter birds, such as Great Northern Divers, from the warmth of the house. There are modern electrical heaters in every room. The house has its own water supply, making relaxing in the large baths in the peaty soft water a spa experience. With no light pollution winter is a great time to experience the glorious night skies. Pets are welcome, and will love the enclosed garden.
For those using public transport, the buses meet the ferries and after a scenic 5 mile journey north, you alight at Pirates Cove, in front of Smugglers Den. Buses tend to be every two hours in both directions. Bicycles can be hired in Brodick.
