This large detached holiday house is set among beautiful mature gardens close to the pretty village of Poolewe, making a fine rural retreat with uninterrupted views of the countryside and the river below.

This beautiful and traditional Scottish manse has been tastefully updated to provide cosy and relaxing accommodation for a large family or group of friends seeking an idyllic Highland retreat. The property is ideal for up to nine guests, and is set in a charming position overlooking the River Ewe. Enjoying a secluded location on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Poolewe, the property makes a great base for keen walkers, cyclists and nature lovers, with opportunities to see salmon jumping in the river and deer in the nearby fields. Close to the stunning Loch Maree, the towering mountain of Slioch and the glorious Inverewe Gardens, this is a perfect base for a quiet holiday in spellbinding surroundings. Housekeeping can be arranged, as can salmon and sea trout fishing.

With a spacious kitchen/dining room and a cosy lounge, this beautiful property is a wonderful centre for a family holiday. The kitchen/dining room extends the full depth of the house and has been attractively decorated and furnished to provide the perfect backdrop for an evening meal. The delightful lounge is a lovely space to retire to after a great day out, with plenty of comfortable seating so you can chat about the day, catch up with a favourite TV show or curl up with a good book. There are also five bright and fresh bedrooms to choose from.

Stepping into this attractive property via the entrance porch, you will find yourself in the cosy and welcoming lounge which is lightly decorated and features a lovely open fire for you to gather round on cooler evenings. The heart of the property is the spacious open-plan kitchen /dining room. An ideal space for preparing and sharing your favourite meals, this is also a wonderful area for socialising or planning the next day’s adventures. Exploring the ground floor further there are also three attractive bedrooms: one twin room and two single rooms, as well as a bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC and a handy utility room.

Going up the stairs to the first floor there are two more pretty bedrooms: one king-size and a twin room. The first floor also features a family  shower room. 

Heading outside you can unwind in the charming traditional Highland garden. Surrounded on three sides by trees, with the fourth side opening onto the beautiful Rive Ewe, this is a wonderful spot to enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

Situated in the small village of Kilfinan, the area surrounding the property is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and wildlife spotters. Wander along quiet country roads and peaceful bridleways to take in the surrounding countryside or walk to the sandy bay on the shore of Loch Fyne (2 miles) for sandcastle building, stone skimming and paddling. The waters of Loch Fyne are popular with sailors and there is a well-regarded sailing school at Tighnabruaich (8.5 miles) if you fancy learning a new sport. Try your hand at water skiing, windsurfing or kayaking along the sea loch at Portavadie Marina (9 miles).

Explore the Argyll Forest Park with a walk through the towering Douglas firs at Benmore (22 miles) and a picnic among the colossal conifers. Hop in the saddle to complete the Loch Eck Loop, a 21-mile circular trail through the forest and along the banks of the beautiful loch. Follow the Victorian walkway up the rocky gorge of Puck’s Glen (22.5 miles) crossing wooden bridges and climbing rocky steps past cascading waterfalls, keeping an eye out for the mystical Ghillie Dhu.

Visit the picturesque town of Dunoon (24 miles). Discover the peaceful Castle Gardens surrounding the ruins of 12th-century Dunoon Castle, a lovely spot for a picnic and to absorb the wonderful views across the Argyll Coast and browse the craft shops and boutiques for a souvenir of your stay.

Very comfortable house with great layout and very well equipped. Plenty space for drying gear and worked really well with two kids (aged 2 and 5). We frequently holiday in the area and will definitely be rebooking The Manse.
