Property code: CA361

Deep in the rolling Perthshire countryside, this sweet little cottage is just the place for a couple looking to get away from it all for a while. Surrounded by beautiful views as far as the eye can see, it’s a special spot indeed.

The single-storey cottage sleeping 2 can be rented alongside the neighbouring property which sleeps 10, making it a great option for older members, or perhaps couples who need a little private space from the family gathering.

Inside, the cottage is light and bright as a result of a modern refurbishment, with a fresh yet cosy feeling throughout. The sitting room with its wood burner is exactly where you want to curl up with a good book after a long day outside exploring, after leaving your coats and boots outside in the entrance hall. Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the table in the kitchen and watch the ducks on the pretty pond, or gaze out across the fields and trees to the distant mountains. With a  fridge/freezer you can stock up for the whole stay and avoid food-shopping stresses, and there’s an electric oven/hob plus a microwave and useful washer/dryer too. The double bedroom has a perfect country cottage style with high-level windows framed by floral curtains, while the bathroom has a shower over the bath.  Venturing outside there is a small pond opposite where you are likely to spot the local wildlife including many species of birds, the rare red squirrel and even deer.  An electric car charging point is also available for use.

The cottage’s rural location means there are ample walks from the doorstep, and the bonus is you can walk as far – or as near as you want. Stroll along forest tracks, country lanes and beside lochs, all within easy reach of the house, or hop in the car to Glenshee, 14 miles away to bag a few of the many local Munros, such as Cairnwell, Beinn Lutharn Mhor and Glas Maol. Glenshee is also home to one of the country’s biggest ski resorts, with a wide range of runs catering for all levels of skier and snowboarder.

Take a day trip to Blairgowrie, 13 miles away, and sample some of the delicious local produce in the many cafes and restaurants, from fresh strawberries and raspberries to mouth-watering ice creams and baked goodies, then have a wander in some of the stunning bluebell woods nearby.

Pitlochry, with its fascinating visitor centre on the dam, is 18 miles from the house, and after watching the salmon jumping the ladder, don’t miss a visit to nearby Edradour. Dating back to 1825, this charming little distillery is one of the country’s smallest and the last stronghold of handmade single malts. Watch the whisky in production in this pretty village-style setting and best of all, enjoy a wee dram too.

The cottage was very cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. The log burner was an added bonus on the cooler nights. Scotland is a beautiful place and the cottage was perfect to explore from. The pond outside it attracted various wildlife which was a pleasure to watch. I have no hesitation recommending it thise who like a 'quiet' break.

Clean, comfortable cottage in beautiful setting. Enjoyed a week in October, lots of trips and walking within easy reach. The log burner and generous wood supply were appreciated on chillier days - very cosy! Be aware shops are a distance so visitors need to bring necessities.

Very nice location close to Glenisla and Glenshee. Approach road very uneven. Very comfortable accommodation with good heating and an effective log burner. Would happily stay again.

Lovely cottage. Very spacious for two. Amazingly well equipped. Very comfy bed. Nice to have a bthe in a coattege for 2 - it is usually a cramped shower room. Lovely setting, with good views and chickens, ducks and geese to watch. Only criticism is the rough track, not good for a small car and it seemed to get worse as the week went on

This cottage is cosy and attractively furnished throughout. The over-bath shower has great pressure and works well. Look out for VERY hot water in the taps. Beautiful cottage, beautiful location, beautiful scenery. We actually miss walking up to the chatter of ducks, geese and chickens. On a morning we had 2 chickens sat on the bench under the kitchen window just looking in at us whilst having our cuppa, hilarious.
