Beautiful location with walks available straight out the door. Cottage is well equipped with all that you need for a comfortable stay. A little tired in places but then arent we all. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the local red squirrel on the feeder. Had a good view of buzzards and a red kite but sadly didnt see any golden eagles.

Very peaceful location. No passing traffic, aeroplanes, or trains. Hill walking paths direct from the front door. Nice wood burning stove, and plenty of hot water. Cottage was a bit chilly at first but warmed up ok. Kitchen area is very small so some planning is required to prepare meals or do the washing up. No dishwasher. Beds reasonable size andRead more firm. Bathroom was very cold until we got the radiator working. Good selection of books to read. Might have been a bit cleaner! Hide

As with other comments, the cottage is tired but adequate. Situated in a beautiful spot in a small valley it inevitably sits in shade and the cottage downstairs is always cool or cold. However, the log burner and heating quickly resolves any chill, which can be needed even when its 20+ Deg. outside! Having an EV car we were please to read the opporRead moretunity to charge the car at the property, however this is not a EV car-charger facility but the permission to use std. power socket. Hide

The Old School was fantastic. A superb base for exploring the Scottish Borders. Check in was easy with a key safe. Everything was provided for the stay. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, hardly a soul in sight when out for walks. A true get away from it all to recharge place.

Cottage was generally very comfortable and spacious, the location was lovely on paper, but we had awful weather most of the week, meaning we were limited as to where we could go and what we could do.The surrounding area is very scenic with lots of gardens, castles and walks etc,but we struggled with things to do in the pouring rain! Also, roads in the Read morearea had some of the worst surfaces we have encountered, you need a solid car! Hide

The location was excellent for local walks and exploring the Scottish Borders and the cottage was comfortable and spacious. However in our opinion it would benefit from some T.L.C. Some of the furniture and fittings are old, worn, dirty and tired and are in need of updating or replacing.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in and the location, at the foothills of hills suitable for all abilities, would be hard to beat. If you havent been to the Borders before, give it a try and The School should be at the top of your list for accommodation

Well situated location for easy access to local hills and neighbouring tourist spots in the area. Whilst quirky conversion of village school, the general quality of furniture is in need of upgrading to improve general comfort.

Charming cottage in a lovely quiet location. Scenic walks from the doorstep and very relaxing place to stay. The cottage itself is charming with comfortable sofas and beds. Overall clean and tidy although some of the furnishings are getting close to replacement. That said we loved every minute of our stay and will definatately be visiting again.
