Property code: CA379

Close to the northern shores of Loch Awe down a single-track road, this traditional croft cottage sleeps four and is an idyllic rural retreat for a family holiday. From the cottage there are views to Ben Cruachan, Argyll’s highest mountain, and you may spot red and roe deer from the windows. It’s also only 1 mile from the village of Dalmally, where you can stock up on supplies at the local shop.

Four steps up to the main door, and you’re inside this single-storey property. It’s a real home away from home, decorated and furnished in warm earthy tones and cool neutrals, with plenty of space for a family of four. After a day exploring the Scottish countryside, return to the property to enjoy a soothing soak in the walk-in waterfall shower. Once you’re refreshed, cook up a storm in the kitchen/diner, which is well-equipped and bright with patio doors opening onto a stunning view to the mountains. When the family has eaten, move to the lounge and light the open fire for a cosy night in together. There’s also a second TV/reading room, perfect for children who want a space of their own to curl up in.

Get ready for bed, and while the younger guests get settled into their twin beds, you can be at ease in the dual-aspect double. A lovely outside space is the glass-fronted terrace, which both bedrooms have direct access to through their French doors. Sit out with a hot drink at night and stargaze when the night sky is clear of cloud. The patio is great for al fresco dining, and there’s an enclosed garden with large lawn area which surrounds the property. Within the garden there is a fast-flowing burn, so please make sure young children are supervised.

We had a lovely fortnight at Tigh Na Abhainn, a very quiet location. Helen was very helpful and friendly. The property was spotless and comfortable. There were lots of little things which added a homely touch - lots of lamps (great when you're getting older and need more light to see things!), bath sheets rather than skimpy towels, a great shower aRead morend comfy beds. The kitchen had a good array of pans and utensils, including a range of smaller pans - great for just 2 people. We will return. Hide
