Lying close to Inverness (12.5 miles), the capital of the Highlands, as well as the lovely market town of Dingwall (3.5 miles), this traditional farm cottage is wonderfully located for exploring the area, with walks and cycle routes from the doorstep. It boasts far-reaching views across attractive farmland towards Ben Wyvis, Dingwall and Cromarty Firth, with a peaceful and secluded feel to the property. Sleeping up to four, it’s ideal for a family farm holiday or perhaps a romantic break in the country.

Many of the cottage’s original features have been maintained, including the tongue and groove lined walls which add to the property’s charm. Throughout it has been decorated in a welcoming and cosy country-style that will make you feel instantly at home.

Step into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner of this single-storey property, where a roaring wood burner welcomes you. Relax here after a day exploring this picturesque area of Scotland, putting your feet up on the comfortable sofas as you watch TV, read a book, or plan tomorrow’s exploration with your loved ones. Cook up a storm in the fully-equipped kitchen and dine together around the wooden dining table which you’ll find tucked in a corner. Once you’re ready to retire for the night, drift off to sleep in one of the two light and airy bedrooms, with one double and one twin. There is also a bathroom with a shower over the bath. Despite its remote location, you will find an array of mod-cons to use at your leisure, with a TV, stereo and Wi-Fi access.

Enjoy the fresh Highlands air on the garden furniture outside – a wonderful spot in which to enjoy your morning coffee. The owners also invite you to explore the active farmland, although access is restricted during lambing season.

Take advantage of this wild and rugged part of Scotland, with a wealth of nature and wildlife to explore and meet. Visit RSPB Scotland's Tollie Red Kites (4.5 miles), which enjoys stunning views across Easter Ross to Ben Wyvis; here you can get a close-up view of one of the area's most iconic birds. Keen fishermen and women will be thrilled to find trout fishing at the nearby fisheries of Tarvie Lochs (11.5 miles) and Stoneyfield Lochs (17.5 miles).

Search for Nessie with a day trip to Loch Ness (25 miles) or spot the resident dolphins at the Moray Firth (8.5 miles), one of the best places in Europe to see them in the wild. Harbour seals are also a common sight, with minke whales, pilot whales and even killer whales sometimes seen further from the shore.

Four golf courses can be found within 14 miles of the property, including those at Muir of Ord (5 miles) and Strathpeffer (9.5 miles), making this a great spot for avid golfers too.

Enjoy the scenic surroundings with a trip aboard the Ness Islands Railway (13 miles), where you'll ride a 7.25-inch gauge track through the scenic Whin Park. Or you can walk the Ness Islands (12 miles), which are linked by charming old bridges and provide a quiet setting to absorb Highlands life. Here you'll pass purportedly some of the best salmon pools on the lower Ness, while the walks are suited to wheelchair and pushchair users making it great for the whole family.
