Escape to this 19th-century courtyard bothy and enjoy its fabulous setting on a private family 25,000-acre estate overlooking the Kilbrennan Sound on the west coast of the Isle of Arran. Sleeping four guests, this property is the perfect romantic hideaway as you can explore miles of tranquil countryside, stroll the surrounding grounds or venture to the quiet beach nearby for long walks. It is equally ideal for a family as the estate has plenty to enjoy from the doorstep.

This property has been restored to provide lovely, comfortable living, yet still retains some of the original features including thick stone walls and sloped ceilings.

Climb the steep stone steps from the tower courtyard and through the front door into a semi open-plan space next to a galley kitchen which is well-equipped. The living space, which is all on one floor, has neutral tones and a cosy open fire to keep you warm on chillier evenings. The two snug and cosy bedrooms – one super king and one king-sized – can both be arranged as twins upon request making this a convenient property whatever your group make-up.

Outside there is private parking and you are free to roam the acres of the spectacular Dougarie Estate at your leisure. Right on your doorstep you will find a walk to Loch Iorsa and the boathouse as well as Dougarie Beach. From here you will welcome fabulous views across to the Kintyre Peninsula. There is also a golf club just 1.5 miles away and trout and salmon fishing by arrangement. You can also book this property alongside others on the estate for a large group getaway of up to 31 people.

  • 2 bedrooms - 2 super-king zip-and-link rooms which can be made up as twins on request

The Isle of Arran is a fabulous destination for both a romantic getaway or family break. Dubbed ‘Scotland in miniature,’ it really does capture the essence of Scotland in one small package. The east of the island is a mere 11 miles away and includes Brodick which has a variety of shops and eateries . There is an abundance of fishing available on Arran (by separate arrangement) and a challenging 9 hole golf course at Machrie Bay  – set in a wonderful location beside the sea.

The views all over the island are stunning and you can indulge in a range of activities from mountain biking, to hiking forest trails as well as abseiling. Climb Goatfell, the highest point on the island, head to the Machrie Moor Stone Circles (2 miles), or take a boat trip to the Holy Isle, a sacred site of spiritualism and raw beauty from Lamlash. You can also take part in photography workshops and tours with Arran in Focus (15 miles) or take to a four-wheel drive vehicle and have an island safari with Mogabout, (11 miles).

We had a super stay at The Bothy. Lovely and comfortable, well equipped and a smashing location on the west side of the island.

The Bothy is a very comfortable 1st floor apartment set in the working courtyard of the Dougarie estate. The accommodation is roomy for 3 or 4 people with very comfortable beds, cosy sofas and a well-sized dining table. All of the windows are roof-lights/velux windows, so although they don't make best use of the lovely views the space is very lightRead more and airy. We had a lovely stay, the location is glorious, a short walk down the lodge drive to the beach and on the beautiful Glen Iorsa footpath. Hide

Clean, comfortable with everything you need. The property is very quiet and remote. A car is essential. Ideal for anyone wishing to travel around Arran.

This is a fabulous little property in a beautiful setting on the west coast of Arran. There is a lovely little sandy beach a few minutes walk away and wonderful walks up into the hills direct from the cottage. Exactly what we were looking for.

I found the bed a bit hard in the main bedroom, but the kids said there's were very comfortable. The kettle needed descaling. Other than that the accommodation was lovely. Thank you.
