This beautifully-presented former farmhouse is a fantastic family retreat on the stunning Isle of Arran. Dating back 200 years, the owners have carefully modernised its interior to create spacious and stylish three-bedroom accommodation with plenty of original charm retained. Spend your days exploring the island with family and four-legged friends, taking in countryside, coastline and peaks before returning to a cosy evening in beside the roaring wood burner or an al fresco meal in the large lawn garden.

A beautiful blend of old and new, this period home boasts wooden flooring, an original fireplace, tongue and groove panelling and fresh contemporary decor to suit all tastes. Whip up delicious family meals in the fantastic kitchen/diner, which contains shaker-style units, oak worktops and plenty of storage and equipment for making yourselves at home. While light meals and snacks can be enjoyed at the small table in the kitchen, evening meals are best shared in the dining room, where you will also find a sofa, TV and wood burner for creating a cosy atmosphere at mealtimes. Afterwards, retreat to the welcoming lounge, with its wooden flooring, oriental rug and wood burner-effect gas fire. Curl up with a good book or make the most of the TV/DVD available. Upstairs, three beautifully appointed bedrooms have been decorated in calming muted tones reminiscent of a boutique hotel.

Stepping outside, a sunny patio area with table, chairs and a parasol is the perfect spot for al fresco dining at the end of a busy day. This area leads onto a large lawn that’s perfect for energetic children and dogs and backs onto rolling fields. There is off-road parking for two cars.

One of a handful of properties on the Glen Rosa track, this cottage enjoys a spectacular setting with views of the sea, countryside and Goatfell. Stroll into the centre of Brodick (2.5 miles) to stock up on supplies at the supermarket, enjoy a tasty meal out at one of its pubs or cafes, or explore its historic castle, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens. Keen walkers should most definitely take on the mighty Goatfell (6 miles), Arran’s tallest peak, to be rewarded by breath-taking views from the top. Or, if you would rather stay at sea level, follow the Arran Coastal Way to neighbouring Lamlash (5.5 miles) in the south or Corrie (6.5 miles) to the north. From Lamlash, regular boats leave for Holy Isle, a 3-kilometre stretch of land with a sacred spiritual heritage that stretches back to the 6th century. Other nearby attractions include the Isle of Arran Distillery (13.5 miles), Machrie Moor Standing Stones (11.5 miles) and Arran Outdoor Centre (6.5 miles).

Lovely converted farmhouse in an idyllic setting with views of Goatfell. Comfortable and well equipped. Secure garden for dogs with outdoor lighting. Misses a utility room which would have been useful for wet walking boots and a wet dog. The Wood burner a lovely feature and the upstairs shower a hit with teenage girls! A great base to explore the IRead moresland, would recommend a meal at the Corrie Hotel, Ormisdale Hotel and lunch at Wineport. The Co-Op well stocked for self catering too. Hide

This was my second visit to this cottage very comfy all mod conns so quiet and peaceful . Horses in the field behind and pheasants in your back garden possibly need a car unless you have bicycles or love walking as its slightly out of the way but still close to. Rodrick , would recommend and are looking to book again next year .

Beautiful cottage in lovely location. Beds are incredibly comfortable. Views from the cottage are fantastic. Although technically walkable to the village its not a walk you would want to make with young children as part of the walk is on one of the main roads on the Island and does not have a footpath. I must add the main roads are not busy :). WouRead moreld thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone it is fantastic. Hide

Despite the cottage being in a convenient but quiet location, roomy, warm and met our needs for a group of individuals on an outdoor working holiday. The standards of cleanliness, particularly in the kitchen was poor, not what you would expect for a self-catering cottage. There was evidence of mice under the sink (droppings, chewed packet) and 10s Read moreof flies, likely due to something decaying, not time of year as implied. owner wasnt able to rectify it immediately so we dealt with it ourselves. The cottage is in an excellent location. You are close to everything but feel remote. The garden is huge and it was lovely seeing the horses greet us every morning. The cottage is very big and spotless. The kids loved running around. They had a sitting room for their toys and we had a grown up area just for us.
