This charming detached period cottage with wood burner, beautiful enclosed mature gardens and wonderful views is nestled in a splendid idyllic setting, in the heart of the spectacular Angus Glens

Enjoying a delightful spot on the eastern fringes of the magnificent Cairngorms National Park, this colourful and picturesque cottage makes a lovely holiday destination for couples and families. The property is set in the beautiful Glen Clova, offering some wonderful opportunities for hill walking, cycling and watching the abundant local wildlife. Surrounded by stunning views of the glen, this delightful period property is a cosy and welcoming getaway. Providing ample space for up to four guests, this idyllic cottage offers a tranquil retreat for guests exploring this magnificent area.

On entering this attractive single-level period cottage you will find yourself in the pretty, warming and cosy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished, this bright and colourful room makes a lovely living space for you to relax in. The light and relaxing lounge has plenty of seating, a traditional wood burner and TV/DVD so you can snuggle down in the evening and watch a movie or chat late into the night. The stylish kitchen is equipped with everything you may need to cook your favourite meals which you can share in the delightful dining area. Exploring the property further, there are two charming bedrooms. The super-king-size bedroom offers lovely garden views and an en-suite bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC. There’s also a spacious twin bedroom with a pretty garden view. In addition, the cottage has a useful shower room.

Stepping outside, the mature, enclosed garden circles the cottage, providing magnificent views across the glen. The cheerful seating area is the perfect spot to sit back, dine alfresco, enjoy a glass or two of wine and take in the glorious scenery. Ample off-road parking is available by the side of the cottage.

The magnificent valley of Glen Clova has an abundance of wildlife and plenty of outdoor activities including walking, biking, deer stalking, Munro bagging and fishing for salmon and trout. For golfers, there’s a fantastic choice of courses within easy reach including Kirriemuir (13 miles) and Forfar (19 miles). The bustling town of Kirriemuir (14.5 miles) is the home of the Kirriemuir Camera Obscura, the Gateway to the Glens Museum and the JM Barrie Birthplace attraction – in honour of the creator of Peter Pan. Also nearby is the popular market town of Forfar (17.5 miles) where you will find a variety of great independent shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as attractions including the Meffan Museum and Art Gallery, Forfar Loch Country Park and the Pitmuies Gardens. Wildlife-lovers can head to RSPB Scotland Loch of Kinnordy (15 miles) where you may spot gadwalls, ospreys and whooper swans, or visit the wonderful Redwings Mountains (also 15 miles) which is a sanctuary for horses, ponies and donkeys, and a haven for other local wildlife including red squirrels. Travelling further into the Cairngorms, you can explore Glen Doll (5 miles) which offers six marked trails and is a fantastic spot for climbers and birdwatchers. The stunning Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve (5 miles) is a beautiful rocky landscape formed by ice over thousands of years and provides some wonderful walks with chances to spot peregrines and golden eagles.

This is a very well equipped and warm and welcoming cottage. The position is stunning in one of the most beautiful Scottish glens. You do need a car.

If you wish a rural detached Scottish cottage then Marchburn may be for you. Lovely views from the garden and walking distance to Glen Clova Hotel. No mobile network so be prepared for that. Inside cottage has been refurbished with lots of Scottish charm. Be aware that you can't just nip to the shops so take plenty of provisions with you including Read morea torch. Hide

Marchburn is our favourite holiday cottage of all time in a perfectly beautiful location. The thoughtfulness put into the hospitality and our comfort was second to none whilst allowing us complete privacy. This elderly building was completely unspoilt both outside and indoors where the decor and furnishings suited the age and style of the building Read morebut provided utility and comfort. We had a wonderful short break. The cottage is a home from home with all you could need being close to hand and just where youd expect it to be. The location is idyllic with walks on youre doorstep and easy access for trips out. Worth noting that the Glen Clover Hotel closes sometimes for private functions so planning ahead ,re eating out, is a gooRead mored idea. Highly recommended. Hide
