Set in a beautiful waterside spot overlooking the River Findhorn as it flows into the Moray Firth, this luxurious cottage makes a wonderful romantic retreat for two. Ideal for couples looking for a tranquil spot in peaceful, idyllic surroundings, this secluded property is perfect for exploring the 5,000 acres of the Culbin Forest. Providing cosy and relaxing holiday accommodation, this imaginatively renovated steading is ideal whether you’re looking for a quiet place to stay or a useful base for exploring the fantastic Moray countryside.

 

On entering the cottage you will find the spacious lounge. With a high ceiling allowing plenty of light in, this cosy space is perfect for curling up in front of the wood burner in the evening and catching up with a good book or watching a great movie on the Smart TV. The stylish kitchen has a useful array of equipment allowing you to prepare your favourite meals which you can share in the charming dining area. Exploring the property further, the bright and tastefully furnished bedroom with king size four poster bed has been delightfully decorated in cool pastel shades. The bedroom also features an en-suite shower room complete with shower and WC. There’s also an additional WC leading off from the lounge.

 

Heading outside, you can relax in the pretty garden which has a seating area so you can sit back with a glass of wine or two in the evening. From the garden, you can step out into the vast Highlands countryside and enjoy long rural walks. Off-road parking is available for one car. Please note access to the cottage is via an estate track without tarmac finish.

Heading around the bay you will encounter the historic village of Findhorn (10 miles), which is a popular centre for sailing and water sports. Findhorn also has a lovely beach, the Findhorn Marina and an interesting heritage centre which displays the history of this fascinating region. To the south of the cottage is the charming town of Forres (6 miles). With a history reaching back over a thousand years, Forres is one of the oldest towns in Scotland and has a number of art galleries and great places to eat and drink. The historic Brodie Castle (6 miles) dates back to the 16th century and features a magnificent collection of fine art, painted ceilings, antique furniture and oriental artefacts, as well as beautiful floral gardens with over 400 varieties of daffodil. Heading west along the coast you can spend a day on one of the three gorgeous sandy beaches at Nairn (12.5 miles). Nairn is known as Scotland’s Highland Playground, and is the home of two championship golf courses and the popular RSPB site at Culbin Sands. There are miles of wonderful walks throughout this magical area, with the majestic Culbin Forest nearby (6.5 miles). Nature lovers may get the chance to spot a range of wildlife including dolphins, seals and whales in the Moray Firth. For lovers of whisky, the Speyside Whisky Trail runs through the area, with popular distilleries including Benromach Distillery and Dallas Dhu Historic Distillery along the way.

Very comfortable and enjoyable stay. A great location. Just a stones throw from the beach and some lovely walks. The bothy was clean, well furnished and had everything we could wish for. The wood burning stove made it even more comfortable on the cooler evenings. Lots to do in the area and great support and advice from Andy. Wed love to come back.

A perfect break: the combination of the location (edge of Findhorn Bay with Culbin Forest behind), a private estate setting (gorgeous gardens), comfort (wood burner, cosy chairs and amazing bed!) and peace and quiet was just what was needed. The location felt unique, a privilege to experience living in a beautiful cottage cocooned in nature. Peaceful, 'away from it all', but not lonely, as Andy was so kind, conciderate and helpful. An incredible comfortable cottage. A welcoming place to lounge on the days that the Scottish weather is wet and cold. On the sunny days walks on the banks of the Findhorn round to the North Sea are perfect. A really cosy little cottage for two. Super location, peace and tranquility ( just lots of beautiful noise from the birds on the estuary) amazing bird and wildlife all around. Lovely walks from the door . Great spot for exploring along the coast and inland to the cairngorms.

Superb location just a minute from Findhorn Bay; well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable living room & bedroom, bathroom with good shower. Helpful estate & house managers. Perfect location. Stayed in the Bothy. Perfect size for 2 adults. Close enough to Forres to get supplies. Far enough out for complete tranquility. Perfect if you want to just switch off and unwind. Forest walks for those inclined, or just do nothing. Lot's of history close by with Cawdor Castle and Culloden battlefield. Such a warm welcome. What a lovely and cozy Bothy . Everything is to a very high quality from the super thick castle style curtains to the lovely cosy 4poster bed which is so comfortable after a day out walking. Didnt need the log fire but the wood was there if we wanted it for the extra cozy effect. So relaxing. Enjoy if you go

Loved our stay, well equipped, clean cozy, quiet and comfortable. As I was full of cold we made full use of the Bothy and its wonderful log burner. The shower is powerful and plenty of hot water, the bed is comfortable and is huge! Loads of lovely walks in the forest and coast without leaving the estate and Mother Nature treated to a fabulous AurorRead morea one night.
