Set along the banks of the bonnie River Beauly, the thriving town of Beauly is known for its 13th-century priory and stunning scenery. The river provides a great spot for salmon fishing, while the town itself is home to an array of craft shops, friendly pubs and welcoming restaurants. This is a fantastic base for keen walkers and cyclists, with popular circuits including the 26-mile route around Beauly Firth. The town makes a wonderful starting point – or finishing point – for the spectacular North Coast 500 route. Heading east, the vibrant and exciting city of Inverness lies at the meeting point of Beauly Firth and Moray Firth (14 miles). This bustling and thriving city offers a wide variety of fabulous places to eat and drink as well as a choice of excellent art galleries and independent shops. Among numerous attractions in the city are the historic Inverness Castle, St Andrew’s Cathedral, the Botanic Gardens, the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, Eden Court Theatre and Cinema and the Hall of Names. The western shore of the majestic and mysterious Loch Ness is within easy reach (12 miles). To the south of Beauly is the pretty village of Drumnadrochit (14.5 miles) which is the home of the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition, exploring the history and legends of the loch’s famous resident.

This was a last minute short break and how we wish it had been longer! Rowan sent me a friendly message shortly after our booking with all the details about the house, including photos on how to find it. The apartment is the basement of the main house with it's own front door. It has been modernised tastefully and in keeping with its age. We were very warm and comfortable. Appreciated the many thoughtful touches such as the vases filled with greenery from the gardens, the games, books, magazines, maps. Id imagine children would spend rainy days happily in the games room. A good base to explore the area by car and lovely walks off the main road from the doorstep.

Rowan has created a lovely Haven in the ground floor section of Tomich house. The attention to detail and furnishings are amazing, the beds are very comfortable and the location was perfect for all of the things we wanted to do in the area. This is our second stay at the Lovatt MacKenzie and it was every bit as fabulous as the last. Perfect location, friendly and helpful hosts and very comfortable & beautiful property. Beauly itself is also a delight - Campbells, Downright Gabbler, Cafe on the Square & Robertsons farm shop all worth a visit.
