A 19th century stone steading in rural Aberdeenshire, nestled away from the hustle and bustle up a quiet track. A romantic escape for keen walkers and cyclists.

Located amongst the rolling hills near the little town of Huntly, relax and slow down in beautiful Aberdeenshire and enjoy the tranquil countryside, quiet lanes, rich history and fantastic places to explore. Ideal for couples and small families that love the great outdoors, walking, cycling, skiing and fishing are all readily available on your doorstep. When the day is done, return to the warm welcome of this charming and quirky steading conversion to relax in front of the roaring wood burner.

High ceilings and cream walls give a sense of space and light, with smaller door frames throughout a charming quirk, simultaneously creating a cosy atmosphere. The interior layout is unusual, with steps in various rooms adding to the overall character, one of contemporary elegance with an authentic twist.

Up steps and into the hall, exposed brickwork leads you to a small dining area for four people to enjoy sociable mealtimes. The kitchen, compact and simple, has a beautiful Belfast sink within a wooden dresser. From here, steps lead to the patio and garden area, so open those doors and let the fresh air flood in. The elegant, and at the same time, homely lounge entered at mezzanine level has high ceilings yet remains cosy once the wood burner is lit. Perfect for resting walk-weary limbs, settle on the comfortable sofa for a movie night. Wake refreshed in tastefully decorated king-size bedrooms, furnished with soft pastel colours and grey hues. There is an additional fold-out bed in the master bedroom if required, and a soak in the roll-top bath is a daily event not to be missed.

Attached to the owner’s property, the steading is also close to a babbling stream which leads down into the shared, woodland area. There is a separate garden for guests with a picnic bench and BBQ ideal for al fresco dining during the summer months. Children will love following the path from the main lawn into a ‘fairy garden’, perfect for hours of exploring and play. Parking is available for two cars.

  • Sleeps 4+1 (additional single fold up bed in double bedroom)
  • 2 bedrooms – 2 king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as 2’6” twins on request)

What an absolutely stunning place. You are up a long farm track, behind the trees, and it is so quiet. The accommodation is superb and the setting is spectacular. Jan made us very welcome and offered advice on where to go. The house is positioned perfectly to get anywhere with ease.

The cottage was excellently fitted and furnished and the accommodation was as described. My only "complaint" would be the approach to the property. The approach is up a steep and very stony rutted cart track with many hidden bumps. It would be hazardous to a low slung car as the ruts are very uneven. However once arrived at the property the views aRead morere spectacular and the comfort of the cottage is five star. Hide
