A mid-terrace converted steading, in a small community just 3 miles from the beautiful town of Jedburgh with local amenities, a golf course and lots of history to discover nearby.

With a break at this converted steading, family and friends will be surrounded by lovely walking, cycling and running routes from the doorstep. Sleeping four in two cosy bedrooms, urbanites can explore the independent shops, cafe and restaurants while outdoor enthusiasts can cycle quiet lanes and walk green fields, admiring the far-reaching views over the Scottish Borders.

A comfortable and cosy cottage, cream walls are dotted with artwork and a neutral palette throughout is complemented by pretty, patterned textiles and soft furnishings. The light palette and windows work to create a bright space that becomes a cosy bolthole once the electric flame-effect fire is lit and the evening arrives.

Step into the hallway and discard outdoor gear and wet wellies to potter through to the spacious kitchen. Gather everyone around the dining table to start and end the day together with a delicious, home-cooked meal, discussing the days adventures and planning the next. Repair to the lounge for an after-dinner aperitif, warming your toes in front of the electric fire and settling down on the reclining sofa for a movie night. Soothing tones of pale blue and mauve in the bedrooms allow for a tranquil nights sleep; wake to the sunlight pouring in.

Outside, relax in the small private garden, soaking up the early morning sun with a coffee as the children play on the lawn. A lovely tranquil place to unwind after a day exploring the beautiful Borders countryside, the garden is also the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a glass of wine or a wee dram. There is parking for two cars.

Considered the historic gateway to Scotland, Jedburgh (3 miles) is a bonnie town with an excellent range of cafes, restaurants and pubs, and plenty of independent shops, while Denholm (3 miles) has two pubs, a restaurant, butcher and general store. With the surrounding area rich in history, culture and adventure activities, the Scottish Borders really is a most wonderful place to get away from it all. History enthusiasts will love Floors Castle (17 miles), to explore grand rooms and extensive parkland, or visit the Jedburgh Castle Jail (4 miles) and the Mary Queen of Scots Visitor Centre (5 miles). Keep the pace leisurely with a round of golf at Jedburgh Golf Club (3.5 miles) or Minto Golf Club (4.5 miles) whilst anglers come from around the world to try their luck on the salmon-teeming Tweed and Teviot rivers. Foodies should visit Born in Scotland (3.5 miles), a local craft brewery with a restaurant offering homemade food. Perfect for a day trip, there are plenty of thrills to be had with adrenaline-pumping mountain biking at Glentress Forest (34 miles), where two world-class 7stanes centres have a wide range of routes to suit beginners, families and experts. There is also a treetop adventure course and some of the very best hiking and walking opportunities youll find in Scotland.

This is a little treasure set in the hills just outside of Jedburgh. A very relaxing and warm cottage. Plenty of room and all fully equipped. A very warm welcome arranged by the hosts.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Apple Cottage! It's a great location - easy to get to lots of places and a very peaceful setting in the countryside. We travelled with a toddler and there was a high chair, stair gate and kitchen utensils which was great. The cottage was spotlessly clean with lots of great appliances in the kitchen such as a cRead moreoffee machine and there was a lovely welcome basket. The owners are fantastic and couldn't have been any more helpful. Hide

Lovely house in beautiful location - away from it all but easy to get to lots of great places. The owners were very helpful indeed and the house was like a home from home. Spotlessly clean, warm and very well provisioned. We loved it!

The cottage was excellent - very well-equipped and comfortable. The position is good just a few minutes from Jedburgh and it was easy to find. There was a very good welcome pack. The owners were easy to contact if needed (it wasn't) and very friendly. We liked the area so much we will probably go back.
