This charming period stone-built cottage, perfect for a cosy romantic retreat, is just 1.5 miles from the Royal Burgh of Biggar and nestled amid beautiful countryside with scenic valley views.

Enjoy a romantic stay at this stone cottage that is situated just 1.5 miles from the Scottish market town of Biggar and takes in far-reaching views across South Lanarkshire. Spend time in the town, with its array of independent shops, restaurants, activities and attractions. Head out from the one-bedroom abode to follow hiking trails and cycle routes. Stroll through the Clyde Valley or the Southern Upland Hills then return to the traditional-style cottage, which sleeps two people and also welcomes one canine companion, to sit out in the sunshine with a glass of wine or in front of a romantic film for a cosy night in.

Tear yourself away from the views before entering this attractive Scottish cottage to find comfortable accommodation to suit you and your loved one. Leave your jackets, walking boots and backpacks in the hall and head on through into the spacious, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Settle on the soft seating with a cup of tea and a piece of Dundee cake to discuss your day and plan tomorrow’s adventure. Watch the Smart TV for a while, perhaps, or enjoy your favourite tunes through the Bluetooth speaker, then head through to the kitchen to prepare dinner. Dine together by the window as you gaze out across your scenic surroundings.

Climb a few stairs up to the king size bedroom when it’s time to turn in for the night. Have a bath or shower when you wake in the morning then prepare a hearty breakfast to set you both up for the day.

Enjoy breakfast out in the sunshine whenever the weather is warm enough. Look out across the countryside from the patio by day and up at the starry skies by night. Find there is space to store cycles safely at the cottage and plenty of parking as well.

Spend time at the Biggar Gasworks Museum, the only preserved gas works in Scotland, and Biggar Kirk, which dates back to the 16th century.

Follow a 4-mile walk from Biggar out to Tinto Hill and back. From here, on a clear day, you can see right over to the Lake District, the mountains of Mourne in Northern Ireland and Ailsa Craig and Arran in the Firth of Clyde. There are also sometimes views as far north as Lochnagar in the Cairngorms.

Travel 11 miles to see the glorious colours of Dawyck Botanic Garden. Renowned for its seasonal flora, this magical place has displays of snowdrops, bluebells, rhododendrons, azaleas and blue poppies.

Plan a day out in Edinburgh, 29 miles away, to experience the rich history and colour of the Scottish city. Go shopping on Princes Street, dine out in one of the many restaurants here offering dishes from across the world and see the historic sights. Visit the castle, walk through Holyrood Park and climb up to the summit of Arthur’s Seat.

The cottage is brilliant and we had a lovely time! The location is great for anyone wanting the peace and quiet of the countryside while still being close to good restaurants and places to visit like Dawyck Botanic Gardens. The hot tub is also really good and the view is great! We definitely recommend it after our week long stay.
