The central dining area is perfect for a romantic meal which you can rustle up in the fully equipped kitchen. Exploring further, you will find the pretty bedroom, with a super-king-size bed, a range of oak furniture and guest robes and toiletries. There’s also a tastefully decorated shower room, along with a handy utility area with a washing machine, dryer and plenty of storage space for bikes, fishing rods and golf equipment.

Outside, the large private garden has a couple of seating areas with a BBQ, perfect for dining alfresco and watching the sunset. The garden also has an extensive lawn opening out onto wildflower areas with fields beyond.

Although surrounded by glorious countryside, and with the magical Cromarty Firth within easy reach (4 miles), the bothy is also close to a couple of thriving towns: Alness (1.5 miles) and Invergordon (4 miles), both with a choice of great shops, pubs, restaurants and attractions including the Alness Heritage Centre and a number of excellent golf clubs.

From Invergordon, you can take a boat trip down the Kyle of Sutherland, or you can head along Cromarty Firth where you may well glimpse dolphins and porpoises. Walkers, cyclists and nature lovers will have plenty to explore, with local landmarks including the 18th-century Fyrish Monument (7 miles).

Heading north, the charming town of Tain (13.5 miles) lies on the southern shore of Dornoch Firth. Scotland’s oldest royal burgh, Tain is a bustling and friendly town with a variety of independent shops and plenty of great places to eat and drink as well as historic buildings including the Old Town Hall, the Tain Through Time Museum and the world-famous Glenmorangie Distillery.

Other local attractions in this stunning area include the Mermaid of the North (15.5 miles), the Hilton of Cadbol Stone (16 miles) and Loch Eye (14.5 miles). The cottage is also a great base for visiting the Black Isle (15 miles) with attractions including the Fairy Glen Falls (21 miles) and Castle Craig (14.5 miles).
