Sleeping ten people over five bedrooms and welcoming two dogs, it’s the perfect country bolthole for a large family or group of friends who want to spend their days exploring ancient castles or skiing the slopes at Glenshee, and their evenings challenging each other to tournaments in the games room or warming their toes by the wood burner in the conservatory.

Tradition and style go hand in hand at this beautifully furnished, clean and crisp farmhouse positioned down a private road between Inverurie and Banchory. Featuring large and spacious rooms throughout, this smart home is the ideal space for a family gathering or a celebration with friends.

Cook up a storm for your loved ones in the large, chic kitchen and dine together in the dining room, which seats up to 14 guests around the table. It’s perfect if you have a special occasion to celebrate. The large conservatory, which is accessed through double glass doors from the dining room, boasts underfloor heating and a wood burner – so it’s always a warm and cosy place to socialise in with your nearest and dearest. Alternatively, you can head to the comfortable lounge to watch TV, curl up with a good book, or play a board game. A stylish king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room completes the ground floor.

Upstairs on the first floor, you’ll find three large, lovely bedrooms: a master king-size, a king-size and a super-king-size. Sleep in the master king and you’ll wake up to wonderful views of Bennachie.

The fifth bedroom is located in ‘The Garden Room’, which is a separate building across the garden. Just a few steps across the garden, it’s a super-king-size with an en-suite bathroom. It’s the perfect room choice if you crave a little me-time.

The house is surrounded by a large garden, laid mostly with lawn. Enjoy al fresco dining on the paved terrace - there is even an outdoor cast iron cooking pit with a swing-out grill for the chef of your party to use, as well as a charcoal BBQ. The swing set is sure to delight the kids, and the games room – which is located in a large Nissen hut at the back of the house – is guaranteed to keep guests of all ages occupied for hours with its table tennis and table football games. Ample private parking is available.

Pack your walking shoes because there’s a whole host of wonderful walks to enjoy directly from this property’s doorstep – across cropped fields, along the Milton Burn, around the estate loch and through the surrounding woodland.

Further afield, Kirkhill Forest (14 miles) is a great spot if you enjoy mountain biking or horse riding. If you’re hiking here, make sure you take the journey up to Tappie Tower – a quaint Victorian folly – because the views from up there are wonderful. Alternatively, take a stroll through dense woodland to the site of the disused quarry at Tillyfourie (5 miles). Now full of water, the quarry glistens a beautiful tropical blue/green colour.

Pack up your ski or snowboard gear and hit the slopes at The Lecht (37.5 miles), which is based 2,090 feet above sea level amid the beauty of the eastern Cairngorms. If skiing and snowboarding aren’t your thing, try your hand at sledging – or if it’s summertime when you visit, check out the mountain bike trails.

Or head into Aberdeen (18.5 miles) for the day – a city that has not one, but two Old Towns. Old Aberdeen, with its cobbled streets, mature trees and 15th-century fortified cathedral is where Aberdeen’s first University was founded in 1495; while Footdee is a quirky fishing quarter at the water’s edge, with quaint squares of tiny cottages and brightly painted outhouses. The city’s marine and maritime heritage continues to play an important role today, so make sure you check out the local restaurant scene and order yourself some fresh seafood.
