Treat yourselves to a stay in this Scandinavian-style, timber cabin, near Roundstonefoot, 5 miles from Moffat, in verdant, undulating Dumfries and Galloway. Sleeping three people, and with a private deck, this unique holiday home has one bedroom area, plus an additional sleeping space on a mezzanine level. Head off on long walks through the undulating countryside around you or simply relax in the Scottish sunshine and gaze out across the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Try water sports at St Mary’s Loch, about 8.5 miles away, visit local beauty spots and spend time exploring historic Moffat, in the Annandale Valley.

Make your way into this pretty lodge, which nestles in the grounds of the owners’ own home, to experience an immediately warm welcome. Find the open-plan layout of the cabin has been creatively designed to offer you all the space and comfort you will need during your stay. Settle down together to watch the Smart TV; prepare delicious meals in the kitchen area and dine either inside or out on the terrace.

Lay your head in the main inviting bedroom, tucked away behind a curtain and featuring a double bed, or carefully climb the steep ladder up to the mezzanine level, where there is an additional seating space . Wake up every morning to glorious views and a hot shower before sitting down to breakfast.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner out on the deck whenever the weather is warm enough and gaze out towards the nearby hills of Saddle Yoke, Hart Fell and Croft Head. Wander through the shared garden and pick fresh fruit from the orchard to enjoy back at the cabin. Keen riders will find safe storage for their cycles comes with the lodge. There is parking for two cars here as well.

Pack yourselves a picnic and head out straight from the lodge on foot or bicycle to immerse yourselves in your southern Scotland surroundings. Follow a stretch of the Southern Upland Way close to Moffat: this runs almost 215 miles, across Scotland.

Embark up a 5-mile walk or drive the same distance to see the Grey Mare’s Tail Waterfall, one the UK’s highest waterfalls. This plunges 60m from Loch Skeen into the Moffat Water Valley and is in an area with some magnificent walking. Spot wildlife including peregrine falcons, ring ouzels, feral goats and even ospreys as you go.

Other beauty spots in the area well worth visiting include the Devil’s Beef Tub, about 5 miles walk or 10 miles drive from the cabin. This is a dramatic hollow formed by the hills of Peat Knowe, Annanhead and Ericstane, as well as Great Hill, and is one of the sources of the River Annan.

Spend time in the former spa town of Moffat, browsing in its colourful shops, dining out in its pubs and restaurants and visiting its museum. Play golf on the town’s challenging course and pick up some famous Moffat toffee to take home to your friends and family.

The property was easy to find,Ian and Pam were lovely. Access to the orchard for our dog was really good, a nice enclosed space to safely play ball was much appreciated.
