Nestled into an elevated position with breathtaking views over Kippford, Urr Water and the stunning Solway Firth, this property is perfect for either a family getaway or a get-together for a group of friends. All guests will love the hot tub, which is the ideal place to unwind in this totally unspoilt part of the world.

This spacious detached property is an ‘upside-down’ house. The entire interior, whichever floor you are on, is airy and bright thanks to neutral interiors and many windows, flooding the property with light.

Off the hallway on the ground floor, there are two bedrooms (a queen and a king-size). Both are stylish, contemporary rooms. Along the hallway at the bottom of the stairs, there is a family bathroom with a free-standing bath and a walk-in shower. Across the hallway is the kitchen/diner which offers a social place to gather and make plans for your time here. Keeping laundry out of sight, there is a utility area by the back door, with a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Head up to the first floor and there is a master king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, and access to a large balcony, which offers the perfect spot to read a good book or stargaze in the evening. The lounge has views across the water, comfy sofas, a piano, and French doors out onto the shared balcony.

Outside, to the rear of the house, you’ll find a private patio area with views into the woodland. There’s a private hot tub with a seating area for you to enjoy time together. It’s a great spot to have a coffee and breakfast or enjoy evening drinks. There’s private parking for two cars.

The area surrounding the house is jaw-droppingly pretty and a haven for nature lovers thanks to being on the water’s edge. It’s undoubtedly peaceful yet also less than 100 metres from the nearest shop and pub.

There are fantastic walking routes from your front door, and mountain bikers will love the nearby 7stanes forest tracks. Within 4 miles is Colvend Golf Club, and 5 miles away you’ll find the wonderful sandy beach of Sandyhills.

If you are a foodie, an absolute must is to head to Scotland’s ‘Food Town’ of Castle Douglas, 10 miles away. There are many local businesses in the town selling some of Scotland’s finest produce. If art is more your thing, then head to the ‘Artist’s Town’ of Kirkcudbright, 17 miles away.

Finally, if being outdoors is more your thing, visit RSPB Mersehead, 8 miles away or Galloway Activity Centre at Loch Ken, which offers a great choice of water sports and activities. This is a bit further away, being a 20-mile drive, but well worth it. Or, you could head to Galloway Forest Park (25 miles) for a walk to remember, or tour the castles of Caerlaverock (26 miles) and Threave (14 miles).

A lovely spacious cottage with beautiful views of the sea and great sunsets. The hot tub was a nice extra and well used and the welcome hamper was very generous, plus extras in the fridge. The village was nice and peaceful within easy reach of towns like Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright., plus lovely coastal and forest walks nearby.
