  • Historic 14th-century castle with original features including stained-glass windows
  • Set on extensive grounds with miles of beautiful river walks
  • The castle has two salmon & trout fishing beats along the River Deveron
Property code: 89020

This stunning castle has a real wow factor right from the moment you drive into the grounds. With plenty of unique touches, it provides a memorable backdrop for a large group of friends or family. With four bedrooms and sleeping up to seven people, plus two dogs, the property is in a beautiful location on the River Deveron – a fantastic spot for those who love to fish. However, this large home also has countless stunning walks from the front door, so even non-fishers will enjoy a stay.

The property’s tower house helps to make the imposing building even more impressive. Parts of it even date back to the 14th and 15th centuries. However, while it retains many original features which give it character, such as stained-glass windows and a vaulted ceiling in the dining room, it has all the modern-day amenities you should need for a comfortable stay. The living areas are homely and cosy but at the same time, those original features give it a real castle experience.

The entrance is via the side door that leads into the kitchen. This space has everything required to cook up a good meal and is a great place to gather for breakfast and chat about the day ahead. There is a small lounge area on the ground floor with a Smart TV which then leads to the dining room. It’s easy to host an unforgettable dinner party for family and friends and enjoy time together around the dining table, and light up the wood burner on those cooler winter nights. There is a WC and utility area next to the stairwell for your convenience.

Take the stairs to the first floor, where you will find the shower room and three beautifully decorated bedrooms: one super-king-size, a king-size and a double. The main lounge is accessed by a few steps from the first floor and is in the original tower part of the castle. It’s a great place to read, relax, and unwind, with another wood burner to keep you cosy on colder evenings.

On the second floor, you will find a twin bedroom and a bathroom with a beautiful Victorian-style bath.

Outside, there is a large courtyard and garden area with seating and a BBQ, with lots of grassed areas for the children to play. It is laid mainly to lawn with plenty of mature shrubs and trees befitting of the castle’s age. Thanks to having so much land, there’s off-road parking for up to six cars.

  • 4 bedrooms – 1 super-king-size, 1 king-size, 1 small double, and 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 shower room with WC, 1 bathroom with bath and WC
  • Electric range and hob with double oven and warming drawer, Smeg fridge small freezer, dishwasher, and microwave
  • Utility room/WC with washing machine; tumble dryer located in the outbuilding
  • Travel cot and highchair available upon request
  • Smart TV in the ground floor lounge
  • 2 wood burners (first basket of logs included)
  • Courtyard gardens with outdoor dining furniture and a charcoal BBQ
  • Off-road parking for 6 cars
  • 2 trout and salmon beats for 4 rods are available to book by arrangement with the owner
  • Beach 13 miles, shop and pub 3 miles
  • Private water supply
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £250 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £30. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Make a pile of sandwiches for your party, lace up your walking boots and venture off on group outings along the banks of the River Deveron. Organise a tour of the Glendronach Distillery, nestled 5.5 miles away in the Valley of Forgue and one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. Plan a day out to historic Banff, 12.5 miles away on the coast, where you can wander the shops, dine out and discover the Scottish town that so entranced Robert Burns and Lord Byron. While you are here, visit the stately home of Duff House and play a round or two of golf on one of the town’s two courses.

An amazing location and amazing hosts - both the caretaker Jim and owner herself were just superb.. Fishing advice, general advice, everything you could want in the castle itself...just a great option and one that was seriously good value. We'd return thats for sure...but probably when there are more fish in the river! ;-)

What an amazing place, we all loved it (especially the dog and our youngest, who is 6, and had been telling his teacher all week he was going to a castle!) We absolutely loved our time at Kinnairdy Castle. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with lovely walks along the nearby river. The castle itself has lots of space, but still feels cozy (especially with the log burner on in the lounge) and staying in a castle is a fantastic experience. Some aspects could be better e.g. newer towels, better outdoor furniture, etc, but overall it was a lovely holiday. Hide
