Set in extensive private grounds and surrounded by woodland, sits this grand 14th-century castle. Gather 18 family members or friends and enjoy a memorable getaway with plenty of outdoor activities including mountain biking, horse riding, and clay-pigeon shooting. You can even host your own Highland Games. While the setting is wonderfully peaceful, it’s just 7 miles from the amenities in the town of Turnberry.

Sumptuous interiors and extensive facilities make this a fabulously comfortable place with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Antique touches abound and include mahogany furniture, ornate mirrors, and huge chandeliers.

At the entrance, a resident knight offers a regal welcome while a stone staircase leads to the great hall on the first floor. Here you’ll find comfortable sofas and armchairs, heavy drapes, period paintings, and wood-panelled walls. Sit and chat to family and friends, admire the views from the huge windows, or marvel at the stunning ceiling mural that honours the Cathcart clan and Killochan Castle. From here, two turret staircases lead to the service kitchen, a snug room, and one of the master bedrooms, while off the great hall is the bespoke family kitchen. Cook hearty meals and then dine in grand style in the huge dining hall. The dining hall is perfectly set up for banquets and boasts an imposing table with seating for 18 people. Afterwards, relax in the TV lounge with a good book or board game or gather everyone together and watch a film in the cinema room. Also on this floor, you’ll find a bathroom and two bedrooms featuring a lovely king-size bed and a single bed.

From the first floor, a spiral staircase leads to the second floor and a further seven bedrooms featuring a mix of super-king beds, four-poster beds, and a single bed. A sense of grandeur sweeps through all the bedrooms while huge windows invite you to stop and stare at the rolling hills. Those with a head for heights can even climb the narrow turret staircase to the deck at the top of the castle and marvel at the far-reaching views.

Outside, there is so much space you won’t know where to put yourselves first. Enjoy morning walks and fishing along the River Girvan, or make use of the mountain bikes and e-bikes and explore the surrounding trails and 140 acres of land. Alternatively, take a peaceful stroll or horse ride through the woodlands and enjoy spotting deer, pheasants, and other wildlife.
