Overlooking the sea in Dunnet Head (Britain’s most northerly point) sits this charming three-bedroom property. Originally a croft cottage, it has been transformed into an inviting place full of charm and character, and is a great holiday getaway for a family or group of friends. It’s the place to come if you love untamed landscapes, wildlife, and the sea.

Whitewashed walls, swathes of natural light, and cheerful decor make it a homely place.

The ground floor living area is a relaxing space with a bright conservatory where you can sit and unwind with a good book or simply marvel at the glorious views. From here, step through to the inviting lounge with its plump sofa and chairs. There’s even a wood burner to keep things cosy on chillier nights. Overlooking the lounge is a dining table, seating six people where you can linger over a delicious meal or play board games. Leading off from here is a contemporary kitchen kitted-out with all the cooking utensils you’ll need for a comfortable stay. The master bedroom is located on this floor and features a double bed and a modern en-suite bathroom. Extra comforts include under floor heating and an infrared sauna so you can soothe aching muscles at the end of the day.

From the ground floor, a narrow stairway leads to the first floor and the twin and double bedrooms. Both rooms are light and airy with bold prints on the walls. There’s also a family bathroom on this floor.

Outside, enjoy a morning coffee at the garden table while contemplating the glorious sea views. Children will love to run free on the lawn but on windier days, the outdoor summer house is the ideal place to sit and play or plan your day’s adventure. Come evening, take it easy in the outdoor hot tub then gather around the fire pit and watch as the stars light up the sky.

Dunnet Head is known for its wild and beautiful landscape and is located along the North Coast 500. Hikers can enjoy walking along the peninsula with its views over the Atlantic Ocean while bird watchers can spend time spotting guillemots, kittiwakes, and puffins.

The wide, sandy beach at Dunnet is clean and back backed by rolling dunes, and is a good place to enjoy a swim, paddle, or romantic walk. For local amenities, head 9-miles to the village of Thurso and browse its traditional shops, bars, and restaurants. While here, explore Thurso Castle, sample a dram at the local distillery, or surf the big Atlantic swells at Thurso Beach. History lovers can also visit the Castle of Mey (7 miles). Dating back to the 16th century, the castle was once the home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and visitors can still see some of her artefacts in the rooms. Afterwards, be sure to stroll through the pretty walled garden and stop at the animal centre where you can view sheep, and newly hatched chicks, ducklings, and goslings.

The situation of the cottage is amazing. So many birds. We even saw a roe deer in the field in front of the cottage a couple of evenings. Lots to do. Nearby Castle of Mey a 'must see' and several ancient sites. The sun porch was brilliant, though fighting might break out if there were more than two staying, and we loved the underfloor heating in thRead moree ensuite. Hide

Very beautiful location, but the outside path is a health hazard, in urgent need of repair! There is no bubble as promised but a wooden shed with garden furniture! The views are excellent which makes up for a lot.

What a lovely property to stay in, as the weather was not so good the heating was on and this made the cottage even cosier, we didnt use the hot tub or sauna but I am sure they are an added plus Lots of wildlife around. As there were only two of us we did not need the upstairs bedrooms which were fine but the stairs are very steep so care is neededRead more. All in all couldnt fault the property at all and we would certainly go back again. Hide

Amazing location with lovely views. Comfortable and well-equipped cottage - plenty of room to store bikes etc. We enjoyed cycling along the miles of single-track, quiet roads.
