Offering the ideal opportunity to unplug from it all and recharge within the spectacular wilderness of the Cowal Peninsula in the heart of Argyll and Bute, this cosy lodge is a peaceful retreat for two couples or a small family holidaying together, with a dog welcome too. The perfect location for enjoying outdoor adventures with Loch Eck on your doorstep and the coast just 5 miles away, enjoy fishing, walking, cycling and days out at the beach.

Boasting spectacular mountains and lochside views from the lodge’s deck area, throw open the patio doors and step into the property’s open-plan kitchen/dining/lounge area. From here you can cook up a hearty meal, sit and enjoy your food with the inspiring views ahead of you, and retire for an evening of entertainment on the TV. The lodge offers two well-proportioned bedrooms; a cosy twin room, and a double that has its own infrared sauna space adjacent to the sleeping area, so you can relax and unwind after a long day of exploring. The family bathroom also features a spa-style bath with a rain shower overhead – an appealing place to retire to and soak aching muscles if you’ve been active outside in the changeable elements.

Step outside onto the deck and sit back to take in the outstanding views through the treetops and across to Beinn Mhor; the tranquillity is sure to leave you feeling relaxed and restored. As well as offering a peaceful space to sit and enjoy the surroundings, this private space also offers a sunken hot tub, which is available to use at an additional charge.

Located along the Cowal Peninsula, Loch Eck runs along the peripherals of the property’s location and is a great place to enjoy freshwater fishing – it’s one of only two places in the world to host freshwater herring (Powan) and is even rumoured to be a favoured fishing spot of King Charles. Brave freshwater swimmers can also indulge and take a dip in the serene loch, as very few boats move across this body of water. Keen golfers can make use of three local courses, with the closest, Strone being 7 miles away.

Ardentinny Beach is only a 5-mile drive from the holiday cottage and is the perfect place to enjoy a brisk walk with your dog or a day out with children come the warmer months, and 11 miles away is the coastal town of Dunoon with its famous Victorian Pier, shops, eateries and all the other amenities you’d expect from a resort town. The Cowal Peninsula is brimming with attractive coastal villages and scenic drives, all with the backdrop of the mountain scenery; an inspiring place to visit and recharge.

The lodge is in a lovely position overlooking the loch, with views of the mountains. The Whistlefield Inn, just minutes along the road, is a great place to eat or enjoy a drink. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the lodge. The furniture and fittings were worn and tired and in need of updating.

Beautiful place and a lovely, relaxing stay here. The hot tub was a great feature, we didn't even make use of the infrared sauna or jacuzzi bath. It is a terrific place to visit with lovely walks, would recommend Puck's Glen.

Lovely cabin in a beautiful, and quiet area. The local botanic gardens and many well marked walking trails kept us busy. We had a brilliant time and didn't want to leave!
