Tucked away in a secluded position amongst the undulating countryside of the Scottish Borders, this stunning country house is perfect for special reunions or celebrations with families and friends. Sleeping 14 guests across five spacious bedrooms, there is plenty of room for everyone to relax in style and comfort. Well-suited to those who enjoy long country walks or cycling adventures, the local area also has something on offer for those who enjoy a gentle potter around a historic town or landmark. After a busy day exploring, head home for a sociable meal in the formal dining room or a long soak with a glass of bubbles in the hot tub.

Built in the 19th century, this country residence boasts plenty of original features, and it has been sympathetically decorated to reflect its heritage. Traditional furniture, opulent soft furnishings and high ceilings add to the sense of grandeur, whilst a range of rich colours and tones creates a welcoming ambience throughout.

On entering, you’ll find yourself in a large hallway where you can discard muddy shoes and wet coats. From here, head into an informal lounge which is ideal for watching TV, admiring the views or catching up with loved ones whilst sinking into a comfy sofa. Next door, there is a formal dining room with ample seating for everyone and spectacular views from the large windows. To the rear, a country-style kitchen awaits you with all the mod-cons you’ll need to cook up a scrumptious meal. There’s also a utility room. Completing this floor, three steps lead down to a formal sitting room where you can gather around the open fire to share memories and reminisce.

Heading upstairs, you can enjoy a quiet moment on the landing where there is some comfortable seating and some books. There are five unique bedrooms on this floor, each sleeping a different number of guests, and they all afford beautiful countryside views. Three of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, one has an en-suite shower room and there is an additional family bathroom.

This property’s south-facing garden is a real sun trap on summer days. The lawn offers space to stretch your legs and immerse yourselves in the rural tranquillity. There’s also a terrace with spectacular views and a range of seating, so take a seat and enjoy a morning coffee or an al fresco meal against the picturesque backdrop. Up to five guests can also sink into the hot tub for a relaxing soak at the end of a tiring day.

This country house is located down a quiet lane near the River Tweed (less than 0.5 miles) and the sleepy village of Clintmains (1 mile). You’ll be surrounded by scenic walking routes in the Scottish countryside. St Boswells is 2 miles away, where you’ll find the closest restaurants, the Gothic monastery ruins of Dryburgh Abbey (3 miles) and the William Wallace Statue (2 miles). If you’ve brought your clubs, there’s also Saint Boswells Golf Club 2 miles away. Or for animal lovers, visit The Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary (3 miles).

I can't recommend Whitehouse Country House enough - it's a gorgeous escape to the countryside that is spacious yet cosy and has the most incredible views. With kind and hospitable hosts and a fantastic location, this was the ideal break for our group. We had such a wonderful time and would definitely host another event here in the future!

House was very comfortable with lots of places to visit close by. The views across the Tweed valley and the merse were beautiful. Kitchen has an aga which was incredibly simple to use. We greatly appreciated this well equipped and very cosy house, which was beautifully prepared for our visit, with comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms. There was lots of room for different members of the family to pursue different activities, and the children especially loved the hot tub. Large cottage, plenty of space for the 10 of us. Different parts of the group could have independence or we could all sit around the large tables. Beautiful setting, lovely views, friendly owners. Well situated for the border towns and villages. We found something different each day satisfying a multi generational family.

We have rented many vacation properties. This was, by far, the only one that has made us feel like we had arrived home. We had a wonderful family holiday. The kitchen was a lovely space to cook, eat and play games around the table. We also enjoyed having a special meal together in the dining room. The kids livingroom went down a treat and they loved the cinema telly and recliner seats. The hot tub was also a hit.

We had a wonderful stay over New Year as a group of friends and our dogs. The house is beautiful and very grand, with amazing views from the hot tub over the rolling borders countryside. A great place to unwind. Angela was a very attentive host and was only ever a text away.

A wonderful house: warm, well equipped and spacious. The house was wonderfully decorated for Christmas and communication with the owners was great and made for a relaxing stay. The space was wonderful for two families of 4. There were great walks locally along with welcoming pubs and restaurants just a short drive away. Highly recommend.

Loved our stay here. The house is large which is great if there are a lot of you, bedrooms comfortable and clean although could be doing with tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
