This property has a fantastic location if you are looking to get away from it all with family or friends. It has three bedrooms which can accommodate six people, plus two dogs who would undoubtedly enjoy a stay here thanks to the plethora of walks right from the property’s doorstep.

The cottage, in its rural location, is bright and light inside thanks to plenty of windows and a neutral decor throughout. Its simple yet chic interiors make the entire property feel calm and tranquil – to reflect the peaceful countryside just outside the front door.

As you walk into the cottage, you'll find yourself in the open-plan lounge/diner which can be separated from the kitchen with glass bi-folding doors. The lounge space has a cosy wood burner, which is wonderful to curl up in front of to read a book or watch a film. Off the lounge are two bedrooms – the first is a pretty twin overlooking the garden. The second bedroom on this floor is a double with an ornamental stone fireplace. You’ll also have use of a small utility area which is home to a handy washing machine, but it also leads to a shower room. The kitchen has a contemporary feel and everything you need to whip up meals. Off the kitchen is a porch and storage area for muddy boots and wet coats.

A spiral staircase leads you to the first floor. It’s home to a double bedroom and bathroom with a free-standing bath. It’s a wonderful spot to relax after a day of exploring.

Outside, you will find an enclosed garden that is laid to lawn. Its main attractions are the second-to-none views of the hills and rolling countryside. The property has space for up to three cars and bike storage.

This cosy cottage is near Lockerbie, where you’ll find pubs, cafes and some independent shops to browse. It’s in a fairly remote location as Lockerbie is a drive away, but it means you can really switch off while enjoying the local wildlife. If you need an urban hit, Dumfries is under 20 miles away and has plenty of quirk and charm. It’s pretty with the River Nith running through it.

Those that love being outdoors will find any stay here memorable thanks to the immediate area having so many walks to explore the beautiful countryside. Further afield, is Solway Firth where you can find 200 miles of unspoilt sandy beaches, home to yet more wildlife. Or, if mountain biking is more your thing, 7Stanes bike park is under 30 miles away and worth a trip for a day.

Other local attractions include Caerlaverock, Threave and Drumlanrig Castles, Robert Burns' House and the Aviation Museum, all within 35 miles. Or, you can enjoy sailing and kayaking in nearby Lochmaben on Castle Loch (6.5 miles). A day out on the water is always enjoyable here, with guests often returning day after day during their stay.

Lovely cottage in a remote location that was perfect for a family break. Cottage had everything we could ask for to enjoy the break and the rural location was great for the getting out long walks with the dogs with very little traffic. Will definitely go back.

One of the best holiday properties we have stayed in for a long time. A great location to explore the beautiful countryside of this part of southern Scotland. Good layout to the property with good facilities and a friendly and warm welcome. Cottage is well located and easy to find but remains fairly secluded. Excellent views from the cottage and gaRead morerden (we were lucky with excellent weather for the whole week). Overall a great place to stay. Hide

Lovely cottage a little out the way of anything but if that's what you want it's great could do with being able to manually override the heating to dry clothes there is a heated towel rail but struggled to dry everything on it but lovely cottage.

We had a wonderful week long stay at Kites cottage. The cottage had plenty of room for our family consisting of four adults, two children and our standard poodle Otis. The homemade bread, jam and butter was a lovely surprise on arrival and the cottage was well equipped for our stay. The location of Kite's cottage was peaceful and truly beautiful. WRead moree would not hesitate to stay here again and to recommend it to friends and family wanting to holiday in the area. Hide

Cottage itself is very nice but a bit in the middle of nowhere. The 3/4 mile single track up to it is treacherous , huge potholes and fingers crossed you dont meet something coming the other way.
