This large property near Brechin is situated in a wonderful spot, nestled into surrounding farmland with rolling Scottish countryside beyond. Its rural location makes it calm and tranquil so it’s the perfect place to unwind and catch up with family or friends. It sleeps up to eight people in four bedrooms, with living areas large enough to socialise. While the location feels remote, you are only 2 miles from the nearest shops, restaurants and pubs.

This updated farmhouse has been lovingly decorated to ensure that guests can relax easily while on holiday. It’s bright and airy thanks to large windows throughout, and a large sunroom running almost entirely across the back of the property. Light floods the house, even on the dreariest of days.

Entering the farmhouse through the backdoor, you arrive at a spacious cloakroom area to kick off your shoes or wellies. There is a large, family bathroom to the left, complete with a full-size Victorian bath, and a modern, spacious kitchen – the perfect place to prepare delicious home-cooked meals. The kitchen leads back into a generously sized utility room equipped with all the necessary conveniences. It means all laundry can be tucked away for the duration of your trip. Slide back the kitchen double doors to discover a formal dining room, creating an open-plan living area which extends through to the sunroom. The sunroom’s windows are vast and allow for uninterrupted views of the rolling hills around the property. The dining room comfortably seats eight people and is complete with an open fire, offering a luxurious dining experience during those cooler evenings. Spend time together in the sunroom watching movies on the Smart TV or simply soaking up the views with a book. Across the hallway is a spacious lounge area complete with a wood burner – a delightful area to gather for pre-dinner aperitifs or a late evening dram.

Upstairs, you will find four beautiful bedrooms, including a master with an en-suite WC and basin, and fantastic views stretching to nearby Montrose. A shower room completes the first floor.

Venturing outside, you will find a beautiful, enclosed garden with an extensive lawn area over two levels and a patio with garden seating, ideal for al fresco dining and drinks. The lawn will be brilliant for any garden games that children or adults want to set up. The property has a large parking area, which can fit up to four cars.

East Drums is a lovely location, just outside of Brechin. Far enough from the town to be truly rural, but close enough that shops and services are only a short hop away. Speaking of hops, we were there in April and saw plenty of wildlife in the fields around the property: Hares, Pheasants and Deer all made an appearance. A really beautiful, comfortable house and garden. With every comfort you could wish for. We had a weeks holiday there but really wish we could have stayed longer. The owner Karen ensured we were settled in and gave us a big bag of potatoes and another of plums. We have stayed at numerous holiday lets but this really is the best one. A real gem.

Without doubt the best holiday cottage I have ever stayed in. House was so spacious whilst also warm and cosy. So well equipped, every detail had been thought of. There was a fabulous welcome basket of goodies for us (and one for the dog!) which was really appreciated. Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Everything was spot on!!
