Treat yourselves to a stay in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway and enjoy being close to nature. This two-bedroom shepherd’s hut has been carefully created to offer great comfort for four guests within the wooded grounds of a country house. Boasting a private, courtyard garden, where you can luxuriate in the warmth of your own private hot tub with views out over the river of Evan Water, this delightful retreat is a superb hideaway for those seeking to simply relax. Tucked away on the edges of Beattock, 2 miles from Moffat, it is also in a wonderful position for walking and cycling through the picturesque countryside.

Take three steps up to let yourselves into this bijou holiday home, which has been completed to combine elements of the rustic with stylish furniture and furnishings.

The heart of the charming abode is its lounge/kitchen/diner, where you can recline on the sofa after exciting days out exploring the area. Find a film to enjoy together on the TV or just read your books and enjoy the tranquillity. Cook up tasty treats in the modern kitchen area and then dine together at the table inside or out.

When you are ready to retire for the night, choose between the double bedroom and the twin, which looks out towards the pond and river. The shepherd’s hut also encompasses a family shower room.

Soak up the sunshine and the fresh air out in the courtyard garden on summer days. Have a cup of tea or dinner out here and pour yourselves a glass of chilled wine to sip as you bubble in the hot tub.

Enjoy being so close to Moffat itself, with its shops, galleries and boutiques to peruse. Shop here for delicious Scottish produce and take time out to visit the museum or catch a show at the theatre.

Have a day out to Drumlanrig Castle and Gardens, 28 miles from the shepherd’s hut. This impressive pink castle stands in a magnificent landscape of rolling hills and has gorgeous Victorian gardens to explore. There is also a woodland adventure playground for children, a gift shop and a tea room. Wander around the castle itself, which is widely acclaimed as one of the most striking examples of 17th-century Renaissance architecture in Scotland.

Head 16.5 miles for a day out to serene St Mary’s Loch, the largest natural loch in the borderland. With opportunities for sailing, water sports and fishing, this is also a lovely place for waterside and forest walks.
