This spacious home-from-home is in a beautifully quiet setting. It’s the perfect place for a family or a couple (plus furry friends) to relax after a fun day out together in front of the cosy wood burner. Sitting on a hillside in a secluded location close to the shoreline of the Kyles of Bute, it’s in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are shops, cafes, and pubs within 1 mile of the property and a restaurant 2 miles away.

The charming traditional house has an upside-down layout, with two of the three bedrooms and one of the bathrooms downstairs, and the living area, one bedroom and one bathroom on the first floor. It’s in an elevated position with views down the hill towards the water and has a large garden for you all to enjoy.

Heading inside at ground-floor level, you’ll find two bedrooms: a cosy single and a bunkroom, both looking out over the garden. There’s also a handy shower room on this floor for guests to use.

Going upstairs, you’ll come to the spacious, welcoming open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen where you can kick back on the comfy leather sofas with a good book or in front of the TV, light the wood burner on chilly evenings, and play games or enjoy meals together at the dining table. The kitchen has everything needed to cook up a hearty meal after a day out. The third bedroom, a double, is also on the first floor. It has dual-aspect windows with stunning views of the water. There’s also a family bathroom so you can have a long soak to soothe tired muscles.

Outside, there’s a spacious garden with a big lawn that children and furry friends will love running around.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 bunk bedroom (comprising of 2 single beds) and 1 single
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC and 1 shower room with WC
  • Electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine
  • Highchair and travel cot available
  • Wood burner (first basket of logs included)

  • Shops, cafes and pub 1 mile, restaurant 2 miles
  • Electric vehicle charging on site
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards

The nearby village of Tighnabruaich is beautiful, with villas and a Victorian pier to admire, palm trees and glorious views of the Kyles of Bute. You’ll also find a bustling village centre with an art gallery, shops, and cafes to visit. The village is home to a sailing school if you or the children want to take to the water during your stay. Or you can sit back and let somebody else take care of the mainsheet on a boat cruise around the Inner Clyde in the Mull of Kintyre.

Sitting on ‘Argyll’s secret coast’, there are lots of stunning coastal walks and beaches on the Cowal Peninsula. Head to the beautiful wee Ostel Bay (also known as Kilbride Bay), 5.5 miles away, for a beach walk along this stunning stretch of golden sand. It’s a family-friendly beach with views across the Firth of Clyde to Arran, perfect for walking, playing, and building sandcastles. There are walking and cycling trails through the nearby countryside too with stunning views.

For an interesting day out, head to Mount Stuart on the east coast of Bute, the ancestral home of the Marquesses of Bute – it’s 27 miles away, which includes a short ferry journey. You can tour the awe-inspiring house and art collection, and the 300 acres of gardens with incredible views and plant life.

We really enjoyed our stay. The holiday house was lovely and clean, and very well equipped for cooking and eating in. It was a cosy and comfortable place to stay. The house was very well located in Tighnabruach, just up from the shore, with lovely walks straight from the door and we enjoyed exploring this beautiful part of Scotland.

We had a fantastic time at this lovely cottage. A great location right next to the coast with the village with shop, pub etc a short walk/bike ride away. Loads of walks/biking and sea swimming. Would be great for paddle boarding or kayaking if you have your own, theres nowhere to hire. The cottage is really comfortable and an idyllic location.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday, this was more like staying at a friend's house than a holiday cottage. A wonderful location, we had 2 dogs and toddler with us and wanted a quiet break with lots of fresh air, from the moment we arrived we relaxed, the cottage has everything you can ask for and the setting is idyllic. 5 mins walk and you're in theRead more hills by the water, when the tides out you can get out on to the shore where seals will pop up to say hello, we also saw deer and red squirrels!
