This cheerful holiday home is located on a working farm in rural North Lanarkshire and serves as an excellent retreat for a large group of family or friends keen to get away from it all. The property is surrounded by scenic forest trails you can explore by foot or bike. There’s also a rich local mining heritage that’s sure to fascinate history aficionados. You’ll have essential amenities within 1 mile in the village of Fauldhouse, and there’s a gin distillery in Forth for sampling locally made spirits. With space for eight humans and two dogs, it’s a wonderful spot for a multi-generational family trip or holiday among friends and their offspring.

This single-storey cottage is decorated in a cheerful and homely style, with plenty of wooden accents and tasteful artwork on the walls. Look out for the Scotland-themed soft furnishings and accessories – a thistle here, a tartan print there – which pay homage to your host nation. It’s lovely and spacious so your group has plenty of space to spread out, and dual-aspect windows in some rooms offer plenty of light. Decorative touches like floral curtains and lamps add appeal to the space.

Upon entering, you'll find yourself in a luminous and welcoming foyer which leads to all the rooms. There’s a large well-equipped kitchen for cooking up family feasts, decked out in pretty blue tiles for an appealing look. The lounge/diner offers panoramic views over the garden and surrounding fields. This room provides a comfy setting for unwinding, whether you're watching a film on the Smart TV after a day of exploration or reading a chapter or two of a good book. The property features three generously sized zip-and-link bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms, while a Jack and Jill-style family bathroom serves as a third option for washing and showering.

In fine weather, you’ll love making the most of the large front garden, where children and dogs can let off steam on the lawn. The gravel parking area provides space for up to four vehicles. A compact rear yard also offers seating and overlooks the sweeping open fields – a wonderful spot for enjoying a nightcap or morning cup of coffee before heading out for the day.

  • 3 bedrooms - 3 king-size zip-and-link (can be made up as a twin on request)
  • 3 bathrooms - 2 en-suite with shower and WC and 1 family bathroom with shower and WC
  • Electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine
  • Smart TV in the lounge
  • Private garden with lawn and seating
  • Owners live on site but privacy is guaranteed
  • Private parking on gravel drive for up to 3 cars
  • Shops, bars and restaurants within 1 mile
  • License number : NL00008P
  • EPC rating : C
  • 2 well behaved dogs are welcome
  • Arrival: 15:30 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £350 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £40. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

In this peaceful bucolic setting, it’s a pure joy to lap up the surrounding views and, in springtime, watch young lambs frolic in the adjacent fields.

History aficionados will love discovering the area’s mining heritage, perhaps visiting the Wilsontown Ironworks Heritage Project (6.5 miles).

And if you’re into off-road cycling, the local trails present a perfect opportunity to explore the area trails on two wheels. In the mood for a long hike? Pull on your walking boots and drive 18 miles to the Pentland Hills for a day in the great outdoors.

Further afield, you can while away an afternoon at one of the many local country parks such as Polkemmet (5.5 miles). This is a popular site for nature lovers due to its rich wildlife, featuring roe deer, fox, heron, water voles, bats and badgers. There’s also a golf course here and another in Carluke (11.5 miles).

Chatelherault Country Park (15.5 miles) is another great option – this contains an 18th-century hunting lodge, 500 acres of woodland and parkways and 10 miles of routed pathways.

If shopping is more your bag, take your credit card along to the Livingstone Designer Outlet (12 miles) and see what bargains you can pick up.

Urban adventurers will be keen to head to Glasgow (25 miles) or Edinburgh (29.5 miles) for a blend of excellent retail, culture, food and nightlife.

Perfect. Ideally located between both Edinburgh and Glasgow. We had a fantastic time at the cottage which was spotlessly clean, well equipped and stunning. Located on a working farm but you wouldnt notice! No noise, no machinery in site. The owner was extremely helpful both before and during our stay. We would highly recommend staying at Glenview!
