Falkirk (6.5 miles away) is in the heart of Scotland in the Forth Valley. The town offers visitors a fantastic range of shops, bars, and restaurants to visit. It also has great motorway and rail links, connecting major towns and cities, including Stirling (11 miles) and Glasgow (16 miles).

To soak up some great Alba history head to Stirling where the impressive castle overlooks the city high up on a craggy rock and the National Wallace Monument, a tower built in the late 1860s, looks down on the site of the 1297 Battle of Stirling Bridge, where William Wallace defeated the English.

Glasgow is best known for its stunning architecture, great shopping, and being home to several whisky distilleries, many of which you can visit for tours and tastings. Closer to home, marvel at The Kelpies (about 10 miles away) – the world’s largest equine sculpture within this 350-hectare green space. The Falkirk Wheel (8 miles) is also extremely popular – an incredible 35-metre-high rotating boat lift. Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to the Burnhouse Lochan fly fishery (1 mile down the road). A 2-acre picturesque fly-only fishing venue, Lochan is stocked with only grade A Rainbow, Blue and Tiger Trout.

Excellent cottage with amazing views over the local villages and Ochils in the distance. Cozy, with comfortable furniture and beds and a vary accommodating landlady. Lovely having the log fire in the evenings. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and plans etc. Knives that are actually sharp and an easy to use sharpener to keep them that way. We had an absolutely fantastic week in the cottage! It was perfect for our little family; our two year old usually has a bath but the large walk in shower entertained her! We came prepared to be chilly (Scotland in January) but the cottage was so lovely and warm we needn't have worried. The basket of logs were enough for three nights of fires (I loRead moreve a proper fire) and since we weren't cold it didn't feel like we were missing out. I can't think of anything that we felt we were without. Hide

Absolutely loved our stay. The cottage is lovely, warm and cozy. Well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Great scenery and location. Far enough away from civilization to be peaceful, but only a short drive to Bonnybridge for provisions. Lovely well equipped cottage. Located in lovely countryside but not far from amenities. We stayed with our one year old son and had everything we needed, and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Wed definitely stay again if we visited this part of Scotland again in future.

Ideal position for visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, as well as more local attractions. Quite location, but only a small distance from amenities. The cottage was attractively furnished and accessible for people with some physical disability problems.
