This gorgeous cottage, on the edge of the beautiful village of Comrie and only 7 miles from the market town of Crieff, is ideal for exploring Perthshire and the Scottish Highlands. It has a gorgeous garden with a summerhouse you’ll want to relax in on lazy hazy days and a cosy wood burner for chilly evenings, and makes the perfect base for a family getaway all year round.

The cottage has bags of charm with attractive modern interiors complementing its traditional features. There’s plenty of space with a large, comfy lounge, a breakfast bar in the kitchen, a separate dining area, and two garden areas.

Spend the evening together in the lounge in front of a roaring fire with the Smart TV on or curled up with a good book. Up one step is the kitchen, with everything you need to prepare hearty meals and a handy breakfast bar for quick eats or to sit and chat with the chef. The kitchen opens up to the dining room, with space for everyone to eat together, another comfy sofa to chill out on and French doors outside. There’s also a handy utility room on the ground floor and a modern shower room with a WC.

Heading upstairs, is a gorgeous twin bedroom with an exposed stone wall, a cute cosy single bedroom, and a separate WC. Going up to the second floor, the third bedroom is in the converted attic, with a lovely king-size bed and its own en-suite WC.

Outside, is a pretty, cottage garden with mature planting and a patio where you can dine alfresco. There’s also a little summerhouse you can chill in. Across the road, there’s a second garden on the banks of the River Earn.

The large, friendly village of Comrie is less than 1 mile away and is home to a range of amenities and independent shops, including a butcher, a baker, and a delicatessen. There’s also a great choice of places to eat out, with pubs, cafes, and restaurants to choose from.

The village is between two glens, Glen Lednock and Glen Artney, where there are lots of beautiful walks. If you head out the Comrie Croft Trails, you’ll get to enjoy glorious views across Strathearn, or you could do the circular walk from the village to Deil’s Cauldron to see the waterfalls. The local lanes and off-road tracks make it the perfect destination for keen cyclists too.

For a fun family day out, Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre (3 miles away) has exotic animals and domestic farm animals – kids may even be able to handle the wildlife at the hatchery. There are also indoor and outdoor play areas, a scenic nature trail, pony riding and fishing. The 9-hole course at Comrie Golf Club is 1.5 miles away and world-renowned Gleneagles is just 16.5 miles from the cottage, where there are three championship courses and a spa.

For a one-off Scottish experience, plan your visit for New Year. Every year on Hogmanay (31 December), Comrie hosts The Flambeaux Procession, a unique tradition where pipers lead a procession of locals dressed in fancy dress with huge flaming torches to the river and there’s a ceilidh in the village square.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage. It is in walking distance to Comrie, which is a lovely village, with options for cages and evening meals, but is also a great location for lots of walks and cycling. We visited in January, with mixed weather, including snow, but the cottage is cosy and well equipped. We would love to visit again.

This property was perfect for us. Our party was grandparents, parents, teenager and dog. The rooms were spacious but with the cottage still having a lovely cosy feel to it. It was cleaned to a very high standard prior to our arrival and well kitted out. It was the first time we'd taken our dog on holiday with us and we didn't feel like we had to woRead morerry too much - not lots of ornaments and breakables. Garden is secure apart from a little burn running through it which is lovely. Hope to be back! Hide
