Comrie is a designated conservation village, with a good range of shops, including a delicatessen, and a fascinating history dating back to Roman times. It lies on the Highland Fault, and you can visit the small, well-preserved Victorian seismic observation post, known as Earthquake House. Walks around Comrie offer gentle strolls along the river or loch, with more strenuous hikes up to splendid viewpoints. You can buy useful guides for six popular hill trails from local village shops. Enticing mountain peaks are within easy reach, so why not head for the hills and bag a Munro or two?

Visit beautiful Loch Earn (6 miles) for water sports, including kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing, or enjoy a sport of peaceful fishing for trout and salmon, with permits available from Comrie post office. Walk the old railway track alongside the loch and you may spot red squirrels and ospreys. Sample quad biking, treetop walks and dozens more energetic pursuits at the popular Hydro Resort in Crieff (7 miles), along with a wide range of family fun activities for young children and teenagers. Soothe aching muscles with luxurious pampering treatments in the resort’s health spa.

The nearby Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre (3 miles) will delight animal lovers of all ages. Wallabies, meerkats, ducks and donkeys are some of the appealing residents. There is a petting farm and soft play area for tots, with an outside adventure park where youngsters can let off steam.

Great location, plenty walking direct from the cottage. Warm and comfortable cottage. There is a fairly big step down to one of the bedrooms which was awkward for one of our group who had to use that bedroom as they needed the en suite bathroom. Lovely welcome goodies left for us. I would definitely stay here again.

The cottage is close to the river but even during Storm Babet (October 2023) is safe from flooding. It is modern, warm, comfortable and quiet . The village shops are two minutes away. Great location for walks to the Deil's Caldron & Lord Melville's Monument, mountain biking at Comrie Croft and reaching the Bannockburn Battle Experience at Stirling.

Lovely location, ideally situated for walking while still central for visiting many tourist areas. Property was impeccably decorated and equipped to a high standard, quiet and very clean. Plenty of space. Really enjoyed our stay, would not hesitate to book again. Many thanks.
