While the cottage is an incredibly comfortable haven, there is plenty nearby to explore. Set in the picturesque seaside town of Nairn and with the beautiful beach nearby (1.5 miles), a trip to this property would only be complete with a visit to its surrounding shores. Bring your paddleboards or surfboards for afternoons of catching waves, or take it easy with a session of sunbathing and a tearoom visit. Golfers will be in their element, with two Championship courses located nearby, The Nairn Golf Club (3 miles) and Nairn Dunbar Golf Club (0.5 miles), which have an incredible reputation for attracting golfers worldwide.

There are plenty of opportunities for walking, biking and hiking, too, with many magnificent country trails and forest tracks. Culbin Forest (8 miles) boasts a vast and varied landscape perfect for family days out. Its fascinating network of trails is a hit with many locals and visitors, including the waymarked Hill 99 Trail, which winds you through pine-covered sand dunes to the viewing tow on Hill 99. This generally flat walk is 3.5 miles and passes through a pond covered in brilliantly-coloured dragonflies and the chance to spot wading and nesting birds. For the history buffs of the group, the 14th-century Cawdor Castle (7 miles) is an incredible feat of architecture, with an iron gate, moat and drawbridge and a vaulted 16th-century kitchen steeped in history and intrigue.
