Look forward to a restorative trip at this delightful cottage in Denholm, a sweet village in the valley of the River Teviot in the Scottish Borders. It’s got one double bedroom so is well suited to a couple or a solo traveller, with one dog also welcome. You’ll be surrounded by local amenities within 1 mile, including fine dining options, welcoming pubs, a butcher shop and a general store. You’ll also be excellently placed for outdoorsy activities such as cycling, hiking and horse riding.

This traditional home has a charming cottage feel to it, with low ceilings, latch doors and plenty of wooden accents. The decor is welcoming and warm – think cheerful colours, tasteful floral curtains and antique-style furniture and crockery.

Everything is on one floor in this quaint accommodation, which has a cosy open-plan living area for relaxing. After a busy day out exploring, stoke the wood burner and unwind on one of the plush sofas, perhaps enjoying a film on the Smart TV. The farmhouse-style kitchen area invites you to whip up delicious meals which you can enjoy at the dining table. An additional comfortable chair placed by the window offers an idyllic spot for relaxing with your favourite book. Denholm is a sweet location with a village green where you can sit and absorb the local atmosphere. When it’s time to head further afield, you’ll be just 4.5 miles from the historic town of Hawick, a gorgeous location with the River Teviot running through it. Take pretty riverside strolls or enjoy a scenic round at the local golf course, and make the most of Hawick’s many shops, pubs and restaurants.

Jedburgh (6 miles) offers picturesque architecture, a marketplace and a 12th-century abbey that will keep you busy for a morning or afternoon. When you’ve finished looking around, you could treat yourself to a slap-up meal in one of Jedburgh’s many wonderful eateries or head to the golf course for a scenic round.

Keen for a substantial walk? At Hawick, you can join the waymarked Cross Borders Drove Road, a 52-mile route steeped in history, as well as the Borders Abbeys Way which leads towards Selkirk (12 miles).

History buffs can delve into the area's past by visiting Floors Castle in Kelso, a stately home with roof turrets and tapestry-hung interiors, perched along the banks of the River Tweed (17.5 miles).Abbotsford, the former residence of Sir Walter Scott, also along the scenic banks of the River Tweed in Melrose (14 miles), is also a majestic location to visit. The expansive Kielder Forest (24.5 miles), just over the border in England, is home to a wealth of wildlife including red squirrels, otters and ospreys. It’s perfect for walking, cycling and picnicking.

A fantastic cottage, which is really well appointed. The location is great - the perfect base from which to explore The Borders. Warm and cosy, The Old Post Office was a delight to return to after a day out. We particularly appreciated the generous welcome baskets, especially the one for our pooch.

If you are considering renting this cottage then you will not be disappointed, it is exceptional standard throughout. The owner has carefully thought what a guest may need and provided it for you. A true pleasure to stay here just wish we had longer.

A comfortable cottage well equipped with quality fittings in the Scottish Borders. There are various places of interest that can be easily visited from Denholm while driving through the beautiful Borders landscape.

The Old Post Office was perfect for myself and my wife. It is clean, well decorated, comfortable and furnished and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a village location from which to explore the border country, surrounding villages, towns and even Holy Island and Bambrugh back in England. The Fox an Hounds pub has a great friendly bunch of Read morelocals and the Cross Keys serves lovely food. Great cafe too across the road. Really lovely place to stay. Hide

Very well presented cottage , spotless. Bed and bedding makes it difficult to get up soo comfy good hairdryer provided. Hall way with boot buckets very handy and great for drying off wet dogs. Welcome baskets for dog and people are super. Comfy sofa , great smart tv , all kitchen equipment top quality ,washing Machine handy and is easy to use , soRead moreap provided. A lovely wee cottage in a good location for Hawick, Kelso and not too far from Lindisfarne. Lots of good walks.

The Old Post Office is a beautiful, well equipped little cottage. If you want a quiet get-away to unwind or to find some solitude away from the bustle, it's perfect. Denholm is a pretty village with all that you need for basics and Hawick is only 10 minutes drive for supermarkets and other amenities. Cottage was so well equipped, neighbours friendly and knowledgeable great touches with welcome pack and info board with local attractions etc. everything we needed for our first family holiday with baby bath, cot and high chair provided.
