Stay at this charming stone cottage for a relaxing holiday in the serene Scottish Borders. The property is on the Branxholme Castle Estate and offers stylish accommodation for groups of up to four. You’ll have your own private hot tub and when you fancy stretching your legs, you’re welcome to explore the estate’s beautiful grounds. Beyond that, there are miles of walking and cycling routes to enjoy in the surrounding area, many of them without the need for a car.

The inside is decorated in a traditional style, masterfully blending rustic allure with modern conveniences. You’ll be surrounded by plenty of natural materials like wood and leather, and neutral hues including cream and beige. Stylish touches like floral wallpaper, black-and-white photos and ornate lamps make you feel right at home.

Everything is on the one floor at this peaceful abode, starting with the cosy lounge which has plenty of comfy seating, dual-aspect windows and a Smart TV. If it’s a little cold and dreich, light up the wood burner to make the space warm and homely. The farmhouse-style kitchen is perfect for prepping yummy dinners to tuck into at the dining table. When you’ve finished, retreat to the charming stone-built ‘bothy’ to spend a few hours before bed – this has its own bar, a dartboard, a wood burner and a Bluetooth sound system. When it's time to retire for the night, head to one of two beautifully decorated bedrooms – one with a king-size bed and the other featuring versatile zip-and-link twin beds. Both rooms are equipped with high-quality linen, a chest of drawers and plenty of hanging space. A shower room completes the cottage's interior.

Outside, you’ll have a bubbling hot tub to rest those weary bones and a dedicated seating area that’s wonderful for al fresco breakfasts and evening meals, with delightful views over the surrounding hills.

When it’s time to venture out of your idyllic bubble, you’ll be just 3 miles from the historic town of Hawick, a gorgeous location with the River Teviot running through it. Take pretty riverside strolls or enjoy a scenic round at the local golf course, and make the most of Hawick’s many shops, pubs and restaurants.

Keen for a substantial walk? At Hawick, you can join the Borders Abbeys Way for treks towards Selkirk (14.5 miles) that energetic pets will adore.

Jedburgh (14 miles), with its picturesque architecture, marketplace and 12th-century abbey, is well worth the trip for a historic day out. When you’ve finished looking around, why not treat yourself to a slap-up meal in one of Jedburgh’s many wonderful eateries before driving home?

History buffs can delve into the area's past by visiting Floors Castle in Kelso, a stately home with roof turrets and tapestry-hung interiors, perched along the banks of the River Tweed (26 miles).

Enjoyed a nice relaxing week in the Borders in this lovely, well fitted cottage. Particularly enjoyed having the Bothy, cosy with the fire going, and, of course, the hot tub.

Wonderfully comfortable cottage, very quiet and relaxing, with all you could need for a comfortable stay. Great location, close to lots of Borders towns to explore and lots of dog walking close by. Hot tub is a great addition after an autumns day out walking, very luxurious. Would 100% stay again.

We had a lovely stay at Branxholme Cottage, perfect for even our little girl and our young dog. The town of Hawick is just a few minutes away as well as many of the other sights of the Scottish Borders in an easy driving distance. It was a damp and windy week in October but we couldn't have been happier with our time in the cottage.
