This cosy and charming lodge, surrounded by the nature of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, is a welcoming and traditional cottage ideal for a wholesome family getaway or romantic escape. You can bring up to two furry friends and explore the abundant scenic walking paths through the surrounding Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. In the garden, there is a treehouse for little ones to play in and inside the stone-built property are homely, characterful features like a warming wood burner and sash windows.

As you enter the woodland lodge, you’ll be met with warming neutral tones, wooden features and comfortable furnishings that create a contemporary country cottage feel. It’s single-storey with an open-plan living area so you can optimise your time socialising with your loved ones.

After a day of being out in the fresh air, put your feet up in the open-plan lounge/diner in front of the fire. Sit around the wooden table and share a home-cooked meal you’ve mustered up in the neutral-toned kitchen with views of the trees through the window. The bedrooms are tranquil and comfortable, with a feature fireplace in the double room and a stylish sofa bed alongside the twin beds in the triple room. Completing the property is a family bathroom.

Dine alfresco in the enclosed garden while your four-legged friends have a sniff around. Kids will love playing in the treehouse and making use of the slide. On the other side of the hedges are the tall trees and wildflowers of the forest park.

Morning strolls in nature will be easy during your stay in this lodge, as forest trails are on your doorstep. Explore the nearby Loch Ard (5 miles) and soak up the national park views from Craigmore scenic point (6 miles). Venture into the historic village of Aberfoyle (3 miles) for a pub lunch or to pick up some essentials from the local shop. For an afternoon of adventure on a treetop rope course head to Go Ape Aberfoyle (3.5 miles).

The main spectacle of the area, Loch Lomond, the biggest loch in the country, is just 17 miles away. Here, you can hike around the water, find a peaceful picnic spot or try water sports like paddle boarding or kayaking. Overlooking the loch is the 974m Munro, Ben Lomond (8.5 miles) – which, in good weather, offers one of the more accessible mountain trails in the vicinity.

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is steeped in history and heritage, with its landscape carved by glaciers tens of thousands of years ago. You can learn of the local folk tales and legends with a visit to historical sites like the Rob Roy statue and the St Maha’s Well, which is said to have healing powers in its water (both within 24 miles).

Plenty of castles are within easy reach of the property. Climb over 500 steps to reach the waterside Dumbarton Castle (28 miles), visit the regal hilltop Stirling Castle (24 miles) or search for the hidden ruins of Buchanan Castle (15.5 miles), which has been reclaimed by nature.

The cottage was perfect. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming . It was warm, cosy, had everything you could need, and the surroundings were beautiful. I cannot find enough words to describe how wonderful it was for our dogs to be able to wander without being on a lead. We will certainly be back.

The rural location was great for us and our dog as he could run around by the water without us worrying. The cottage was sooo cosy, we had a fabulous stay and without a doubt will book again.
