Situated down a quiet country lane, this rural Shepherd's Hut for two with bright but cosy interiors is an ideal romantic escape for couples looking for a tranquil break surrounded by nature. This property is located between the Cairngorms, Dundee and the east coast of Scotland, with quaint towns nearby – like Forar. Spend quality time together in this intimate space and dine alfresco at the bistro set while soaking up the views of the rolling hills.

Everything you need is in one neat space with crisp and bright interiors and contemporary decor. Walk up the four steps to enter the hut to find a plump king-size bed on your right, where you sit with a cuppa while watching the TV. You’ll find storage space underneath the bed for your belongings. Directly in front of you will be the farmhouse-style kitchen with wooden worktops, which is compact but offers enough space to cook a special meal for your loved one – which you can tuck into at the dining table beside it. Natural light pours through the numerous windows, from which you can admire the view while dining with your other half. To the left is a wooden door to the shower room.

Sit outside in the garden with a glass of bubbly underneath the stars in the evenings or star your day with a morning coffee in the fresh air. The private garden is spacious with grass and is lined with trees and shrubs. From your doorstep there are plenty of options for a scenic stroll through nature with views of the wild Scottish countryside.

Head to the quaint country town of Forfar (3 miles) for a meal out or to pick up essentials from the shops – the beloved traditional pastry snacks Forfar Bridie are a must-try. This town is known for its tales of witches who once lived here, which you can learn about at the Meffan Museum. History enthusiasts should check out the Forfar Heritage Trail, which will take you to the most significant landmarks from the Stone Age to the last days of the Royal Burgh.

For an injection of history and Scottish heritage into your trip, visit Dunnichen Battle Site and Cain (4 miles), where the Battle of Dunnichen was fought in 685Ag and the 14th-century Glamis Castle - the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth.

A lovely friendly place. The hut we stayed in was gorgeous! It was spotlessly neat and clean. Tea, coffee and sugar all provided and lovely soft towels. We loved all of the lovely features of the hut, from door handles to windows and the scenery was spectacular. We took our little old JRT and she settled well. The first time weve stayed in a shepherds hut and what a pleasant surprise. We were very impressed with how it had been equipped. Also suitably impressed with the cleanliness, the place was spotless! The bed was extremely comfortable, we slept well every night. Handy dining table with two very comfortable chairs. It had all we needed in the kitchenRead more and the shower room was perfect too. Most importantly to us it was all very clean. We would have no hesitation in booking the same again. Hide
