This hideaway on the Rhins of Galloway provides the perfect place for families and groups of friends to fully relax and embrace nature. You’ll be close to some fantastic, sandy beaches, and will have easy access to the dramatic Southern Upland Way. The pretty village of Portpatrick, with its colourful houses and cute eateries, is 8 miles away.

The cottage is situated on a working farm and boasts fabulous views across the rolling countryside. A ramp leads to the property, and measures have been taken inside to increase accessibility. Neutral paintwork and exposed woodwork create a sense of calm throughout the property and the open-plan layout makes it feel sociable and spacious.

Enter the property into the hallway and through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This bright and airy room has dual-aspect windows and a collection on comfortable seating. Spend time here, catching up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, and sharing delicious feasts around the wooden dining table. On a warm evening, open the doors to the garden to extend the living space outdoors. The property has two beautiful bedrooms. Choose from a relaxing king-size or a cosy twin (where one of the beds is an ‘Adjustamatic’ bed for increased accessibility). The spacious family bathroom completes the accommodation and has a walk-in bath for easy access and a bath seat.

To the side of the property is a decked area with rattan chairs and a large lawn for children to play on, and to the rear is a suntrap decked area with furniture for al fresco dining, as well as a BBQ and sun loungers. Patio doors at the rear of the property lead to the gym and games room (shared with the owner), which are located beneath the cottage.

The attractive seaside village of Portpatrick is a great starting point for several popular walks in the area. Stride out along the cliffs to the evocative ruins of Dunskey Castle, or enjoy a longer jaunt along the Southern Upland Way, which starts in the village. After a long walk, refuel in one of the traditional inns, cosy cafes, or independent restaurants.

The coastline of the Rhins of Galloway is dotted with gorgeous beaches. Killantringan Bay (6 miles) has 1 mile of golden sand, and is a dramatic spot for a bracing walk in winter or rock pooling and paddling in the summer. Sandhead (14.5 miles) is a popular family beach, and is generally more sheltered, as it is on the eastern side of the peninsula.

Wildlife enthusiasts must take a trip to Loch Ryan (7 miles), the most southerly of Scotland’s sea lochs. A walk along its shores, past hidden beaches and secluded bays, will provide ample opportunity for spotting rare sea birds, as well as red squirrels in the surrounding forest.

Castle Kennedy Gardens (10.5 miles) make a lovely day out for all the family. Wander through the 75-acre, loch-side landscape, marvelling at the colourful floral displays, pretty walled gardens, and romantic castle ruins.
