The River Annan flows through the centre of the town, allowing pretty waterside walks after a coffee and homemade cake in one of the local cafes. Lockerbie has several visitor attractions to add to the itinerary, including the fascinating Aviation Museum and an ice rink. Just outside the town is Eskrigg Reserve, where you can marvel at an array of Scottish wildlife, including red squirrels and deer.

Just 18 miles away is the iconic village of Gretna Green. Enjoy a day trip here to visit the Village Blacksmith’s Shop and immerse yourself in history amongst the photographs and memorabilia from couples who have eloped to this famous wedding venue for centuries.

The stunning Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is within touring distance (approx. 30 miles). This walker’s paradise of dramatic coast paths, rocky cliffs, and sandy beaches is the perfect place to get away from it all and embrace nature. On a clear day, the views across the Solway Firth to the mountains of Scotland are unrivalled.

There are beaches dotted along the coastline on either side of the Solway Firth, all begging to be explored. The wide, sandy beach at Southerness is ideal for a traditional day at the seaside, or to get away from it all head to the salt marshes and sand dunes of Bowness-on-Solway.
