We had a wonderful week at Gilnockie Cottage and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The walks from coastal routes to woodland loops were all excellent and very easy to access. The cottage is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. We were lucky with the weather, so we spent most of our time relaxing on the veranda, soaking in the peaceful Read moresurroundings. Kippford is such a lovely coastal village, and the cottage is a fantastic base for exploring the area. We also loved stopping at The Ark for ice cream on our way back the perfect treat after the coastal walk. The only downside was that on our last day the owner arrived to begin painting at the property. While we appreciate that DIY needs to be carried out, it did feel a little intrusive and wasnt ideal during our stay. Ideally, this kind of work should be scheduled outwith guests booked time. I suffer from respiratory issues triggered by paint fumes, this was particularly unwelcome. Hide

We spent a lovely few days at the cottage for a family get together and were not disappointed. The cottage had plenty space for 6 adults and is well appointed. We all loved the views across the river estuary and was so peaceful. Plenty to do round about although eating options in Kippford are limited to the Mariner hotel at the moment as the AnchorRead more has closed. Food in the Mariner was good and friendly staff, On our last evening we spent some time outside stargazing as it was a cold clear night and could see the constellations were visible, such a treat. Lovely lodge in a great location. Walks from the door to kippford wood and along the coast to Rockcliffe. We had everything we needed and even though it poured with rain for a full day we enjoyed watching the estuary from the comfort of the lounge. We slept well in the comfortable beds. Lovely and very comfortable stay at Gilnockie. Alpine log cabin feel in a quiet spot with a terrific view over the tidal river in the bottom of the valley. Very much enjoyed the fantastic walking from the door, through the woodland and over to Rockcliffe beach.

We had three fabulous nights at Gilnockie at the end of February to celebrate multiple birthdays. Knowing the weather could not be depended on we chose a destination we wanted to spend the time in, and to this end Gilnockie was perfect. Great family time with two grown up kids and our Border Collie. The views are spectacular, even when misty (looksRead more mysterious) or raining (looks romantic) and the fresh air and log fire make for wonderful lazy days. Hide

The cabin had everything we needed, and when storm Eowyn cut the power, the gas hob really helped. The en suite bedroom downstairs was great for us as the dog is not allowed upstairs. There are numerous walks straight from the door. Excellent cabin, excellent views. We will book again.
