We stayed here for two weeks in June 2026. This is a very comfortable little cottage, heated with an air-source heatpump, and the water is heated by two solar thermal panels on the roof. The water was always hot. This was our first experience of a heat pump; the cottage was always warm, but it's strange feeling either only very tepid or cold radiatRead moreors. Perhaps the only downside is drying washing. We did a load that, at home in our utlity room using a ceiling mounted airer would have been dry overnight. But in the cottage, even after 48 hours on the airer in the bathroom there were still patches of damp on the washing. Unfortunately the "freezer" is only the icebox at the top of an under counter fridge so our usual cook and freeze at home was a non-starter. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay "The Bothy". Hide

Lovely cottage, warm, cosy and an enclosed garden for our dog. Such a nice welcome from the host, who was also available for questions at any time. Cruden Bay and Slains Castle is 100% worth a visit and we definitely want to come back.

Lovely quiet location out in the Aberdeenshire countryside, but within walking distance of the village of Hatton. The Bothy is very well equipped and lovely and warm. We stayed in November and endured a cold snap of ice and snow while we were there, but were oblivious in the snug warm Bothy. The enclosed garden was great for our dog to have a saRead morefe wander around. This was our second stay in the Bothy and can highly recommend. We loved the area so much that weve just bought a house about 10 minutes drive away! Hide
