This home-away-from-home enjoys a peaceful setting in the village of New Galloway, on the edge of Galloway Forest Park. The pet-friendly retreat welcomes six guests and is the ideal base for families and friends looking to rest, recharge, and immerse themselves in nature. There are some lovely walks from the village, including to the ruins of Kenmure Castle and the beautiful Loch Ken. For shopping and eating out, Castle Douglas is 14 miles away.
The whitewashed stone cottage is decorated and furnished in a traditional style, with wooden furniture and floral soft furnishings. Cute accessories add a homely vibe, and the walls are adorned with landscape artwork.
A small flight of external steps lead to the entrance of the cottage, and into a sun porch where you can leave all your walking gear. From here, French doors open into the bright and inviting lounge with comfortable seating, a Smart TV, and a fold-out dining table. Heading further into the cottage, discover a country-style kitchen/diner with plenty of worktop space and all the equipment needed for a self-catering getaway. This room also has a dining table, where you can come together for family breakfasts. Rounding off the ground floor is an attractive double bedroom with woodland views and a refreshing family shower room.
Upstairs, the first-floor landing has a handy workstation for catching up with emails whilst away. The remaining two twin bedrooms are on this level, nestled under a sloping ceiling. Both bedrooms have a delicate botanical theme and plush linens for a good night’s sleep.
Outside, steps lead down to a small, enclosed courtyard and beyond this is a woodland garden with outdoor furniture. Unwind here in summer, sipping a glass of wine and listening to the birds in the surrounding trees. Private parking is available for four cars.
