Wander the Galloway Hills and experience the beauty of the Solway Firth when you stay at this special retreat near Newton Stewart. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom cottage enjoys an idyllic setting within the grounds of a large country house. Once the gardener’s cottage, the stone hideaway comes with an open fire and a private courtyard.
Wander inside to find single-storey accommodation that has been finished with colour, interest and flair. Amble down the hall to emerge in the open-plan lounge/diner where you can stoke up the open fire and sink back into the plush emerald green sofa to watch the Smart TV. Choose books from the shelf here too, and congregate round the table when it is time for your sociable holiday meals. Take time to gaze out over the gorgeous garden from the windows. The friendly kitchen, with its sage green cabinets and wooden work surfaces, has ample space for food storage and preparation. Open the door to your private courtyard here on fine days. As each fabulous day draws to a close, wander through to either the super-king-size or the king-size bedroom. There is also a family bathroom, where you can decide whether to soak in the tub or rinse under the shower. Take your book and a cold drink out into the sunny courtyard on warm afternoons. Wander round the beautiful shared garden whenever you choose or explore the wooded areas within the wider grounds. There is private parking.
Walk just 0.5 miles to find yourselves in Newton Stewart, with its independent shops and eateries. Wander along beside the River Cree, looking out for otters and kingfishers as you go. Venture into the Galloway Forest Park, which begins approximately 2 miles from the cottage. Plan a day by the sea at Mossyard Beach, 14 miles away.
