Situated in a tranquil spot in the Lammermuir Hills, this stylishly converted byre makes a lovely holiday retreat for a couple or a family looking to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful part of the Scottish countryside. With ample space for four guests, this delightful cottage also makes a perfect bolthole for anyone wanting to spend time in the vibrant city of Edinburgh.

 

This is a lovely warm property to relax in, with a traditional wood burner in the lounge. This stylishly designed period cottage has been imaginatively updated, beautifully furnished and decorated in a variety of eye-catching ways. Adjoined to the owner’s house, your privacy is assured.

 

After arriving at this pretty cottage, you will find the beautiful lounge which features a vaulted ceiling, wood burner and plenty of comfortable seating so you can snuggle up together and catch up with a favourite TV show or a good book. The lovely dining area is perfect for a family meal or a romantic dinner for two which you can prepare in the elegantly designed and fully equipped kitchen. The ground floor also features a spacious and attractive bathroom.

 

Heading upstairs there are two spacious and airy bedrooms – a delightful king-size room with a TV, and a bright and cheerful twin zip-and-link which can be made up as a super-king-size on request.

 

Stepping outside, you can unwind in the enclosed garden which has a charming seating area where you can share al fresco meals, enjoy a glass of wine in the evening, or spend the night stargazing.

We has a lovely week at Brothersheils. Noreen and Ali were welcoming and helpful. The cottage itself was very nicely furnished and well equipped and gave thr best of both worlds as we could visit Edingburgh easily but also spend time in the countryside.

We recently had a lovely stay at Brothershiels Byre. Ali and Noreen were welcoming and the cottage was all that we hoped it would be. It was very well, and thoughtfully equipped and decorated. Lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location. Well equipped kitchen, had everthing you might need. Good location for travel into Edinburgh via train (Gorebridge nearest) - we managed to get the last parking spot each day, but there are other stations further along the line if the car park is full. We had a fantastic stay at this cottage, it is in a lovely spot, very rural. We had a few trips into Edinburgh on the train which is very easy to reach via the local station. Lots to explore within an hour with kids of all ages. The cottage is very well equipped and very friendly hosts, with amazing views from the hot tub.

Beautiful quiet location, friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble, great location for seeing tourist attractions and convenient for travelling by train to Edinburgh. Lovely cottage and fabulous relaxing location. Owners were very friendly and welcoming. Hot tub was a bonus and garden area great for family and dog. Very clean and beautifully laid out. Supply of games was great idea . Had a lovely holiday and Meg the cockapoo enjoyed her first train ride from Gorebridge to Edinburgh.

Beautiful cottage on a working farm. We thoroughly enjoyed our five nights here whilst visiting family in Edinburgh. The cottage is well appointed and a very good size. Hot tub was not available for our stay but we still absolutely loved our stay and cant fault anything. Great facilities and extremely welcoming and helpful hosts. For us the perfect quiet and picturesque location for making the short drive to nearest train station to head into Edinburgh.

We enjoyed our stay in this very comfy cottage. It was well stocked with books and games, and very cozy. The cottage is attached to the owners house and you go through their utility room to reach the garden & hottub. I'd not realised this when we booked, but it worked fine. A beautiful rural holiday cottage in rolling green hills that is delightfully peaceful! The hosts were very welcoming and the cottage was beautifully kept with the homeliness of house plants. The wall art and warmth from the log burner, enables a feel at home atmosphere. To top this was a very lovely hot tub with views of the hills and greenery.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Byre, from the moment we arrived we had a lovely welcome, followed by a very thoughtful welcome basket which was a lovely surprise. Recently returned from a 5 night stay and can't recommend it highly enough. The owners, Noreen and Ali, were lovely and the cottage and surroundings were perfect with cows, sheep and bunnies right on your doorstep. Edinburgh is only a 30 min drive away too. A lovely, peaceful break in a beautiful part of the world.
