Retreat to this gorgeous cottage in the market town of Lauder, set on the western edge of the Lammermuir Hills, 22 miles from Edinburgh. Sleeping two guests, and also welcoming one very delighted dog, this exquisite stone cottage benefits from a simply stunning, and very sizable, shared walled garden. A perfect hideaway for a couple, it makes a great base for anyone seeking all the colourful shops and varied eateries of a market town, together with access to the spectacular countryside of the Scottish borders. You could even plan a day trip into the vibrant city of Edinburgh while you are here.

Open the front door on to this charming, two-storey property and leave your shoes, bags and coats in the hall. Make your way on into the inviting, open-plan kitchen/diner, with its exposed stone walls and exquisite, farmhouse-style decor. Whip up delicious dinner for two in here then lay the table for a romantic night in together. After dinner, linger at the table for a while and perhaps find a film to watch together on the Smart TV.

Make your way up the staircase at the end of each wonderful day to watch another Smart TV in bed for a while, perhaps as a special holiday treat. Enjoy a good night’s sleep in the sumptuous king-size bed. Wake up to enjoy a hot shower before heading down to breakfast.

Take breakfast out into the delightful cottage courtyard on sunny mornings. Light the BBQ out here too on warm evenings. Pour yourselves a glass of wine as the sun goes down and stroll down the beautiful garden, which is also enjoyed by the owners of this truly individual holiday home. Parking for the cottage is on the street, on a first-come, first-served basis. There are also car parks close by.

A perfect week in a delightful cottage: all the equipment youd need, comfortable and clean and in a great location with shops nearby. Especially wonderful was the courtyard and beautiful enclosed garden - when the weather was kind my dog and I enjoyed the outside space, and when the weather was less nice, the cottage was cosy and welcoming. Located on a main road behind the owners house. The garden looks lovely and the bedroom is fine - its a nice room with a good sized bed, a couch and a tv. Unfortunately the rest of the property is really not very nice. The kitchen/lounge is extremely cramped, tired and disorganised. The shower is an overhead shower in a tiny toilet with restricted Read morehead room and a tiny basin. No contact at all from the owners (I was there for 2 weeks). I would not recommend. Hide

Very small for the price. A little cluttered downstairs. Quite noisy, road traffic from early hours. Nice garden. Lovely walks in the area, and from the door. Nice people.

A lovely cute, cosy little bolthole. Spotlessly clean. Lovely friendly owners. The use of a super enclosed garden. Ideal location for visiting the Borders and up to Edinburgh and the coast. Thank you to Fiona, George and Luther the dog

This cottage is definitely quirky, but we had everything we needed, it was warm and cosy, and our dog absolutely loved the big walled garden, as did we. Fabulous food at the Black Bull a minutte up the road.
