Framed by a breathtaking backdrop of mountains, wooded hills, and lush lowlands, this tastefully renovated retreat occupies the ground floor of what was once Dunira's working hub. Featured in the epic TV series ‘Outlander’, the estate is a haven for outdoor adventurers, with trails weaving through ancient woodland and alongside rivers and streams, while the surrounding landscape invites exploration toward Comrie, Glen Lednock, Balnacoul Castle Hill, St Fillans, and the wild beauty of the Glen Tarken hills. Shop for supplies in nearby Comrie – the village is famous for its distinctive white church and the Earthquake House, which dates from the 1870s and was the world’s first purpose-built seismological observatory. Further east, Crieff (10 miles) is a vibrant town with a thriving food and drink scene, independent stores and a whisky distillery. One of several buildings in a characterful courtyard setting, this grown-up getaway impresses from first sight. Step up into the entrance hallway and then the accommodation is all on one level, with fabulous wood flooring throughout. Head into the main open-plan social space, and you’ll find a contemporary kitchen with bar-style seating at a central island unit, and a door opening directly onto the patio area. A dining table with bench-style seating sits between the kitchen and the spacious lounge, which has a striking stone wall, a wood burner, Smart TV and patio doors to the garden. A large utility/storage cupboard off the hall houses laundry equipment so you can pack light, while the snug sitting/reading room offers a second space in which to work or unwind in style. When it’s time to sleep, the master bedroom has a king-size bed, en-suite shower room and garden views. There is also a modern family bathroom with both a bath and a separate shower.

Outside, the private enclosed garden offers an oasis of calm. Enjoy morning coffee and evening tipples in the ‘sit-ootery’ – a tranquil spot with views across the Perthshire Hills – while the dog rolls on the lawn. The estate is wildlife-rich so you may see red squirrels jumping from tree to tree or dashing along the old stone walls. Listen out for the red kites and other raptors that cry overhead; you may also glimpse pine martens or hear owls calling across the woods at night. Parking for two cars is provided.

A really comfortable cottage. Owner is very friendly and met us and greeted us on arrival together with a nice package of goodies. The cottage is very clean and well appointed and equipped with everything you need. It's in a very quiet setting within a large estate, with plenty of walks straight from the cottage. Weather permitting it has a lovely Read moregarden in which to sit and enjoy a coffee or what ever. A nice cottage in a nice location. Hide
