Enjoying a beautiful waterside location and offering stunning views across the spectacular Loch Sween, this light, airy and inviting property makes a wonderful holiday base for a couple or a family seeking a tranquil retreat. The cottage is perfect for exploring this historic region, with miles of beautiful walks to enjoy. It’s also a great area for water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers and mountain bikers.

 

This pretty detached bungalow provides comfortable accommodation for up to four guests and offers fantastic rural views across the harbour of Loch a’Bhealaich and out towards Loch Sween. The cottage has been attractively furnished and decorated in a range of restful pastel shades.

 

Arriving at this lovely property you will find yourself in the bright and spacious lounge. Featuring a splendid view of the loch, comfortable seating and TV, this is a great space to relax in at the end of a fun-filled day. You can enjoy a favourite meal in the charming dining area, and the fully equipped kitchen is a pleasure to cook in. Exploring the property further, there are two cosy bedrooms: a double room overlooking the loch, and a comfortable twin room. There’s also a bathroom complete with a shower over the bath.

 

Going outside, you can unwind in the delightful enclosed garden which has a charming patio area so you can sit back and enjoy the idyllic views. Private off-road parking is available, and there’s also space for a small boat and trailer. Please note there is steep ramp access to the patio and three small steps into the house.

  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

The pretty village of Tayvallich is a popular yacht haven, with the boats moored in the bay making a picturesque sight. The village also has a general store, coffee shop, pub/restaurant and is renowned for its seafood. Loch Sween is surrounded by spectacular countryside with a network of forest tracks for you to follow either on foot or bike. You may be able to spot a range of wildlife including deer, seals, otters and an abundance of birds. Nature lovers can also visit Taynish National Nature Reserve (1.5 miles), Knapdale Forest (5 miles) and Moine Mhor (9 miles). There are also opportunities for boat trips and a range of water sports including kayaking and canoeing. You can also lie back on sandy beaches or visit the thriving village of Kilmartin (11.5 miles) which is steeped in history, with nearby landmarks and sites including Temple Wood Stone Rings (10.5 miles) and the Neither Largie Cairns (all within 11 miles). The popular Argyll Beaver and Wildlife Visitor Centre is in Barrandaimh (5.5 miles) or you can explore the 200-year old Crinan Canal by foot, bike or boat (8.5 miles). Heading down the Knapdale peninsula you will reach the medieval Keills Chapel (5.5 miles) or you can travel round the loch to the 12th century Castle Sween (15.5 miles).

Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Accommodation was perfect - as was the location. Probably the best we have stayed in, over the years. Great centre for walks, without having to drive to far.

Cottage has everything you need during a vacation. The views across the bay are beautiful. Lots places to explore near by: Taynish Nature Reserve, Carsaig Beach and all the lovely and beautiful walks along the B8025 from Tayvallich to Bellanoch

Fantastic location, beautiful views over Lock Sheen with the benefit of a pub/restaurant within easy walking distance and small shop nearby. However, the bungalow needs updating everything is rather shabby.

Superb location. Lovely spot to watch all the harbour activity and appreciate the beautiful scenery of Tayvallich and Loch Sween beyond. This property has a superb view of the hills, the sea, and the activities in the anchorage. Some updating would be a help, but the big snag is the narrow difficult access to the main road.

Anchorage View is well named with views over the loch from the lounge window and the terrace. The local shop/cafe is well stocked and has a good cafe menu. Taynvallic Inn serves excellent food from a comprehensive menu with a variety of seating options; terrace, bar, restaurant. House needs a refurb, but in a glorious location. You have to be prepared for a degree of inconvenience. Also only experienced drivers should attempt entering the drive without assistance. Host was responsive and helpful.

Cottage is dated and needs refurb. It has everything you need but all a bit higgly piggly. Front bedroom is flooded with light when the fishing boys set out at 3-4am. At first I thought someone was outside trying to break in. As with other comments we have read, the boiler is very noisy and if on at night (minus 3 on 2 nights of our stay) it will wRead moreake you up. BUT the location and view is absolutely fabulous. Whilst the location of this cottage is exceptional; the quality of this property is very poor. We found it poorly equipped, cold and not cleaned well. New bed linen and towels, more kitchen equipment and some kitchen consumables would make a difference. We do not expect a house to have dog hair embedded in the carpets and on the furniture. The views over the loch are lovely, and the short walk to Carsaig beach is well worth it. We saw otters and white tailed eagle at Taynish nature reserve, a short drive away. Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting overlooking the Loch. The views from the cottage were lovely and could sit in an afternoon by the open fire and watch the seal in the bay.
